JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Payment methods LRT Jabodebek will be done cashless using electronic money cards or multi-trip cards.

These cards must also be brought during the limited soft launch on July 12 to August 15 because passengers will be charged a Jabodebek LRT fare of Rp 1.

However, the Public Relations Manager of KAI Jabodebek LRT Division Kuswardojo did not explain, the brand of electronic money cards that can be used for Jabodebek LRT payments.
He said the details of this matter would be explained when the community registered to take part in the soft launching of the Jabodebek LRT.

As for multitrip cards, during soft launching, passengers can use multitrip cards that are commonly used for Jabodetabek KRL payments.

"While we can use KRL cards, we will convey the details later on the registration link to participate in the joyride or soft launch before July 12," he said when he told Kompas.com, Friday (2/6/2023). In addition, Jabodebek LRT payments can also use digital wallets.

However, he could not confirm whether the digital wallet could already be used during the soft launching of the Jabodebek LRT. Because, currently this payment method is still in the process of integration.

If the digital wallet integration process has been completed before July 12, passengers may be able to use digital wallets as a payment method.

"Hopefully when the soft launching of the integration process will be completed," he said.

Kuswardojo explained that the application of cashless during the soft launching of Jabodebek LRT was carried out so that people were accustomed to using Jabodebek LRT, including how to use the payment system.

Soft launching is one of the socialization efforts carried out by operators so that the public can implement the use of Jabodebek LRT when it is commercially operational next August.

"We use cashless payment instruments during soft launches or joyrides. This is part of our socialization to the public regarding the procedures for using Jabodebek LRT transportation starting from the payment mechanism and payment instruments used to the up and down process on the way," he explained.

The soft launching of Jabodebek LRT with passengers will be limited. For this reason, people who want to try the Jabodebek LRT can register to take part in the soft launching.
"The public can register through the link that we will convey through our social media @lrt_jabodebek ahead of limited operations on July 12," he said.

Jabodebek LRT will enter the trial phase with passengers which will be held from July 12 to August 15, 2023. The public can try the Jabodebek LRT trial at a rate of Rp 1. However, LRT Public Relations Manager Kuswardoyo said that people who intend to take part in the trial must register first through a link that will be embedded on LRT's social media. The link will be shared starting July 10, 2023.

After registering, Kuswardoyo said, residents must make sure they have received confirmation from the Jabodebek LRT. Because during the trial, passengers can only take the Jabodebek LRT according to the specified time. "For the public, make sure they have received confirmation first, because in the confirmation there is a schedule, what day, what time, and where the departure station is," said Kuswardoyo, Thursday (6/7). He said the trial rate was previously set to be free. However, LRT uses a ticketing system with cashless payments that cannot use a tariff of IDR 0.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the level of domestic components or TKDN of the LRT system is almost 100 percent. Luhut admitted that the first LRT trial attended by President Joko Widodo did not go perfectly. According to him, the LRT line still missed about 30 centimeters when the trial was carried out. But Luhut believes the rail has been calibrated and runs smoothly. "So, I think I have to be brave to start with local content," Luhut said.

What exactly is Jakarta LRT and how different is it from regular Jakarta Metro?

Only little difference, the train is a bit smaller despite it can still carry more than 1000 people in one train set. Greater Jakarta LRT system despite being developed locally is also run in automation system (driverless) and run faster which is in this aspect is more modern than Jakarta MRT system. Other differences is that there is no underground tunnel within Greater Jakarta LRT system at the moment, all of them are elevated track system, above the ground.

Also you need to differentiate between Jakarta LRT and Greater Jakarta LRT. This thread is talking about Greater Jakarta LRT which is developed entirely by national companies (SOE consortium) and has much lenght than LRT Jakarta. LRT Jakarta is developed by Korean company and only has until now around 8 km length on its route (first phase).
