Kumrat valley is one of the most beautiful valleys in Pakistan, but this valley is hidden form the world's eye i would say it is the most beautiful Valley so far i have visited with its dense forest and glaciered river , beautiful Water Falls , heaven for fishing :D

Our plan was of Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan via Shandur Pass , but due to massive Flood we changed our plan to the adjacent valley of Chitral that is Dir District or Dir Valley .. Kumrat is situated in Upper Dir near Thal a small town before Kumrat valley which could be used as base camp to reach the place from upper dir one can hire a jeep to reach this place..

Leaving Thal Far behind .. heading to kumrat

Just a few years ago Taliban Ruled Dir and nobody could just traverse the area safely.
Thats why its "Hidden" as not many go there...still. But after operation Dir is safe now as evident from this thread.
Likewise if you go to Parachinar and Tirah Vally, the area is very beautiful..But you may hit an IED.

spectacular beauty of nature, thanks for sharing

this year nearly 1 lac tourists visited kumrat valley .. problem is not taliban now problem is lack of infrastructure to reach this valley . there are many more places in KPK along malakand and Dir area which are still unexplored i am going to start and other thread of same Upper Dir of Jahaz Banda Meadows which is very less explored trek . many people avoid to go due to bad shaped track which leads to this beautiful place from upper dir till thal and secondly lack of facilities for tourists there .. local government is making road till sharingal which will reduce the distance of to 2 hours from 5 hours .. the best thing which i observed there was people are convinced to let their childern study and many locals asked us what it will benefit us and we had very good time there ... Masters and Graduates of KPK are working in such remote areas and educating masses ..

I am a big fan of Lack of Infra structure. Better roads mean more people, more trash, more buildings, more exploitation of forests and local resources to the level of depletion.
No roads preserve the area.

well we need to educate the tourists to be eco friendly instead of spreading trash into these beautiful places .. access of roads till these areas can bring prosperity and interaction with rest of pakistan will benefit the locals .. timber mafia is badly being banged by PTi government there

I dont see any Ancient trees here. Just new plantations which is sad. Pakistan was one of the few countries in the world with Ancient forests of Conifers.with large huge old conifers still standing.
