The LAÇİN Guidance Kit, an innovative solution by Roketsan, allows bombs to be directed towards the target via a data link and Imaging Infrared seeker (IIR). The LAÇİN Guidance Kit, which will soon be delivered to the Turkish Air Force, was presented to visitors for the first time at IDEF’21.

The LAÇİN Guidance Kit was developed in line with the requirements of the Turkish Air Force , to enhance the effectiveness of the MK-82 General Purpose Bombs against targets in caves, moving targets and long-range targets.

The LAÇİN Guidance Kit has been developed in compliance with the MIL-STD-1760B standard. It has a 16 Nm range for a 0.9 mach release speed and a 20,000-feet drop altitude; and a 28 Nm range for a 1.1 mach drop speed and 40,000 feet drop altitude. The data link engagement range of LAÇİN Guidance Kit has been specified as 50 Nm.

In January 2019, Roketsan started the LAÇİN Guidance Kit programme as a self-funded project, and within a short timeframe of 6 months it became ready for launch. In a capability demonstration test held in November, 2019, an MK-82 general purpose bomb integrated with the LAÇİN Guidance Kit was launched from an F-16 fighter aircraft, successfully destroying its target.

Roketsan continues to work to increase the range of both the guidance kit and the data link unit, with the aerodynamic analysis phase of the fixed-wing and folding-wing development completed. Efforts to simultaneously increase the data link range and to improve the image quality transmitted to the user have also come to an end. Upon the completion of these works, it is aimed to complete the flight tests of the system.

MKE and ASFAT exhibited their Hybrid howitzer solution. The SSB Vice president Mustafa Şeker visited the General Manager of MKE Yasin Akdere and by coincidence, I was there. I say by coincidence because normally it would not draw my attention. The 50 ton howitzer moved so silently. I had chance to film it moving. What you will hear is a big noise but it is not coming from the vehicle or engine. This is the noise of people. https://www.turdef.com/Article/mkes-firtina-blows-silently/593 I believe we will be talking about tanks with hybrid solutions in future.

Roketsan is expanding its Smart Micro Munition product family, which has proven success in the field, with MAM-T. MAM-Thas been developed to address a need for greater warhead efficiency and longer range, in the light of the experience gained with MAM-L and MAM-C. MAM-T, which has received full marks from the user with its successful first test firing, is exhibited for the first time at IDEF’21.

Members of the Smart Micro Munition Family, which can be integrated with Armed Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (AUAV) in the inventories of the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF), the General Command of Gendarmerie, have been used successfully in operations, since 2016 for MAM-L, and since 2018 for MAM-C. Enhancing the efficiency of fixed-wing air platforms and particularly of armed UAVs, the MAM product family is included also in the inventories of friendly and allied nations. MAM-L and MAM-C outperform their rivals with not only their technologies but also their operational experience.

MAM-T, developed by Roketsan engineers in the light of the experience gained from MAM-L and MAM-C, gave a new impulse to UAVs.Its first firing test was completed in April from a Bayraktar AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV). In this test, the AKINCI UCAV deployed the Smart Munitions MAM-C, MAM-L, and for the first time, MAM-T, successfully destroying the intended targets.

Developed nationally and indigenously, and optimized in terms of weight/efficiency, MAM-T can be used against armored or unarmoured vehicles, buildings, and surface targets. Along with the midcourse guidance capabilities, the ammunition provides high precision against moving and stationary targets in BLOCK-1 configuration has also a semi-active laser seeker. Designed to be compatible with different platforms, the newest member of the family, MAM-T, with a 30+ km range capability from armed UAVs, 60 kilometers from light attack aircraft, and 80 kilometers from fighter aircraft, will continue to demonstrate the game-changer identity of the family in the field.

Roketsan has already completed the serial production preparations and targets to include MAM-T in the inventory of TAF in the forthcoming months.

Just imagine an F-16 or JF-17 armed with 20+ of these missiles for ground attacks.
