ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik has issued a 72-hour notice for illegal Afghans living in Islamabad to leave the capital.

The interior minister issued the ultimatum following today’s militant attack on a senior military official in Sector G11, a residential area that is located near an illegal Afghan settlement.

Rehman Malik has also ordered a door-to-door search in five major sectors of the capital, including G9, G10 and G11. The objective of this search is to hunt down illegal Afghans and terrorists.

The interior minister has also said certain Pakistani money exchange agencies and their foreign sources are involved in terror financing.

Rehman Malik said the government has taken serious notice of these reports. He has directed the FIA to conduct a full fledged investigation. He added that anyone found guilty of terror financing, will be charged under the Anti-Terrorism act. -DawnNews

72 hours should mean 72 hours afterwards they need to be forcefully evicted and the citizen should help in the evictions.

enough is enough

Good move, but what is this......."Interior Minister Rehman Malik has issued a 72-hour notice for illegal Afghans living in Islamabad to leave the capital."

If they are illegal than why just leave the capital, why not the country.....?

trust they will just move from islamabad to another city and will reappear again after a few days. they are not going anywhere from pakistan. even if you deport them, they come back again.

Why don't you people establish a concentration camp where u gas the afghan terrorists?

^^^ Because their President doesn't have a silly mustache and spricht nicht Deutsches?

'Marvelous' suggestion, BTW.

Sheesh man; hadn't you guys gassed so many jews they wouldn't be using the Holocaust card and weeping all over the place today :disagree:

Afghans need to go; they are a burden on our society; even the ones who took up Pakistani nationality.

what is the Interior Ministry going to do when the 72 hours are up?
you just cant tell people to move what i want to see is a plan after all these are human beings and needed to be treated with respect. not all afghans are taliban sympathizers most of these people just want to earn a living and live in peace. their must be proper deportation plans with the UN.

How many times has the govt tried to kick out Afghans? Politicians are politicians, hes just trying to make it look like something is being done.

I'm willing to bet that Islamabad is still going to have problems after that 72 hour "ultimatum "

And how exactly will this benefit the Capital? What are the Governments proposed plans to deal with these Illegal Afghans? And most importantly, as some of you guys mentioned, why simply leave the Capital when you can actually send them back to their country?

I believe once we're in a position to completely focus on this issue, the Pakistan Government must establish a temporary camp site secured by the SF, and provide the Illegal Afghans with a temporary residence first before expelling them out to other parts of Pakistan. After that's achieved, we can start the registration process and then urge the Afghan Government to take care of their "citizens" and provide them with the necessary transportation (Airlift) back to Afghanistan. I know it sounds like a long term project, but if we aren't going to do something about this problem now, we'll always keep blaming the "Illegal" Afghans and realistically, they can't do much on their own to leave Pakistan.
