Imran Khan

Imran says economy is Pakistan’s biggest problem

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has said better relations with India will benefit both nations, also admitting the new government in his “bankrupt” country will have to resolve “the worst economic crisis”.

“If you have a good relationship with India, it opens up trade, and trade with a huge market. Both countries would benefit,” said the cricketer-turned-politician in an interview telecast on WION on Sunday.

Imran is a strong contender for the Prime Minister’s job in Wednesday’s national election in Pakistan where the military has seized power several times since independence in 1947, and directly ruled for almost half the country’s history.

“The problem with India right now is the issue of Kashmir. I give full marks to Pakistan for trying to get proper, better relations. But I believe we should have peace with India as the whole subcontinent is held hostage to the Kashmir issue,” Imran said.

There is a triangular contest among the governing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) led by Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former President Asif Ali Zardari’s Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP), and Imran’s PTI. PTI’s surge has caused anxious moments in India’s security circles as it has been a political and strategic puzzle.

Imran said economy is Pakistan’s biggest problem. “The biggest challenge Pakistan faces is: we are bankrupt. We do not have the capacity to pay the debts. We can’t pay for our expenses, so we have to borrow money,” he said.

“The new government has to strengthen institutions, raise revenues and stop corruption. We are in the worst economic crisis right now,” Imran said.

How does he respond to allegations that he is supported by the Army and the security agencies? “Same allegations existed before the 2013 elections. But it turned out that in the 2013 elections, all players, including the establishment, were supporting Sharif’s party,” he said.

He admitted Pakistan’s spy agency, ISI, would have a political role as much as it could have in any elections. “You know if you look around in the public, the only party that’s been growing is PTI.

All opinion polls show that PTI has gone up. And so to blame our success on being backed by the military is nonsense,” he said.

He said this is for the first time that PML-N has not been supported by the establishment. “PML-N was born, nurtured in the lap of a military dictator. Nawaz Sharif was the protégé of General Zia. He picked up a businessman and made him a politician. Then ISI backed him in 1990. He’s attacking the military and the Supreme Court, and saying that they’re against him,” he said.

Ousted Prime Minister Sharif and his heir apparent, daughter Maryam, were convicted of corruption and jailed earlier this month.

Asked if Imran, if elected PM, would exit the war on terror led by the US, he said, “Of course. We need stability and peace. We need to have good relations with everyone. We do not want a relationship with the US where Pakistan is considered a hired gun paid to fight their war.”

On US President Donald Trump

“I don’t know whether he’ll want to meet me... But you see the important thing is the relationship between the two countries. My whole idea is that the next relationship with the US should not be this one-dimensional one-sided relationship, where Pakistan is supposed to act and then a few dollars are thrown its way,” he said.

“It’s cost us a lot in the past 16 years. So I’d like to have a relationship that is mutually beneficial,” he said.

trade for only those products which are in our favour and are cheaper

trade for only those products which are in our favour and are cheaper
Could you suggest some products which are in your favour and are cheap ?

Trade is already in Indian favor. So, its pointless.
Surprisingly its without the MFN status. We can imagine what would happen if the MFN status is provided.

May be it's one of the reasons why Pakistan cant give MFN status to India.

So now slowly you ll start doing all the things the previous governments have been doing eh? And All this talk about change.
What we need after mr. Ameer ul momineen nazu, is someone who actually does nott compromise, that’s the only way to bring about true change.i feel all of these politicians are liars who want to only clinge the throne.

The reason why I ve been in favour of Imran Khan from the past few years is not because he has me convinced that he ll change things but because unlike other politicians he sells it better.

Though I m already convinced that Imran too will cry the same way for the next five years if elected.
And In the end he ll start making excuses as to why they couldn’t do the job better.

If you guys haven’t understood the Pakistani politicians mindset till now. I advise you do. They’re playing you for fools. Pehlay there was PML-q, then ppp.. then pml n and now pti. They are all different sides of the same coin.
Although khan might not be corrupt but I know of several senior members of his team that are. They too will rule this country for five years and by the end of the situation will be the same if not worse.

Pakistan isnt bankrupt. Pakistani politicain and corruption isnt allowing Pakistan to flourish.

1. Focus on proper tax collection.
2. Focus on local and national investment in infrastructure
3. Improve security and guarentee safety for external investors
4. Create jobs
5. Most of all focus on proper dudiciary and policing must be fierce...eg..500 rupee traffic fine should be 3000 with half going to the policeman. Checks snd balances of course on the police
6. Free education throgh tax collection. People will pay if they get spmething in return
7. Medical insurance for all through tax collection and elimination of private sector healthcare which doesnt care about the patient but just cares about the money.
8. Free food centres in all cities so no one is hungry. Elimate begging and organise baital mall.
9. Food standards and driving standards through proper training and education and inspection.
10 improve accomodation in areas of tourism and get rid of stupid laws like punjabis cant buy in kashmir but kashmiris can buy in punjab. Tgis is our country.
11. Get rid of vip culture...if you dont feel safe with 30 car escort go do another job.
12. Sanitaion....again in bazars business tax and daily rubbish collection and street cleaing. Educate the people on cleanliness .
13. Reseach and development...there is a huge pool of talented young men who leave pakistan and are very successful abroad.

All Pakistani GOvt always says the same that economic ties with friendly relationship between Pak & Ind will help both countries, its high time Indian establishment and Hindu govt understand this as it will be even more better for poor Indians.

offcourse we are not as obsessed, unlike low IQ eastern shithole where war mongering get you votes.. nor PTI neither PML& PPP are against peace & dialogues.

it is in the party manifesto to improve the relationship with India.

For that to happen you have to open market for Indian goods like....

1. Cars,SUV'S,Trucks,Buses etc
2. Medicines
3. Branches of Indian companies in pakistan like Infosys,TCS,Wipro,Tech Mahindra,HCL etc
4. Indian agricultural products like Tea,Coffee,Rubber,Spices,Banana etc+Milk
5. Business in gold and diamond
6. India hospital branches in pakistan like Appollo and many others
7. Importing indian steel, cement, coal etc, since pakistan production is very low.
8. Direct connection of Iran pipeline to India
9. Access to bollywood films with out restrcitions

What is Pakistan's Debt to GDP ratio?

Banckcrupt .. or heading towards banckcruptcy

How will a trade heavily tilted towards imports from India benefit us?

We already destroyed our local industry by doing free trade with China which led to the flooding of our markets with cheap Chinese products--- local industrialists couldn't compete with their prices, so they had to shut down...

Besides destroying local industry and farmer by flooding our markets with Indian products, this so called trade will only increase the trade deficit and boost Indian economy at the expense of Pakistani economy.

Think other side of the coin

1. Indian investment in pakistan and indian software companies can absorb talents from colleges in pakistan with
high salary package
2. India pharma companies can create jobs for many in pakistan+ affordable medicines for all
3. Indian hospitals in pakistan + expertise, so no need to come india for treatment
4. Indian auto industry can revolutionalize pakistani roads with much affordable cars, trucks, buses etc with wide range of selection of brands and save cost.
5. Indian construction in building Dams,Airport terminals etc so pakistan can create jobs/expertise for many
6. Upgradation of your educational institutions like LUMS and many others
7. More revenue to pakistan from Iran-India pipeline
8. More improvement in tourism and so more hotels and more infrastructure and jobs
9. More jobs and so better security situations
10. Less defense spending in pakistan, so more money to basic needed things
11. Can learn better from bollywood for pakistani film industry
12. Many agricultural products with better price
13. More fdi
14. Better overall image of the country
