(Reuters) - India will sign an agreement with China this week under which Beijing will provide a feasibility study into building a 1,750 kilometre, high-speed rail line between Delhi and Chennai, a spokesman for India's Ministry of Railways said on Tuesday.

Agreement for the feasibility study, which China will pay for, follows the signing of a memorandum of understanding in September for China to help develop India's railways.

"The (railways ministry) team is in China now. We expect them to sign the agreement this week," the spokesman said.

@Oscar
@Horus

Payback time for mi-35:devil:

Just kidding,,just goes on to prove that business is supreme and no country is willing to ignore another due to previous historical differences that may have existed.

This project is useless
Chinese help should be sought in upgrading the Train stations & other rail related infra not this super luxury project

Great news the Chinese are also helping to set up a dedicated Railway University in India

Don't be naive............its a delhi-chennai business route.
There will be huge number of people willing to pay by the time it comes up which will take many years to materialize.

And the upgradation plan of stations and tracks is a separate issue that will be dealt with soon enough.
I think again chinese will get that contract.

Main challenge lies in upgrading the unmanned gates. It needs to be manned as the train travels at high speed, and we cannot face a situation of hitting buses.

What I want to say is HSR should be used for Medium & Short distance
HSR looses it EDGE in long distance travel to planes

Naah, Delhi-Chennai will be a huge step as a pilot project.

Imagine this scenario -

You want to go to Bangalore.

By Air - You go to airport 1 hour before departure, check in and all that. Then after about 2 hours land in Bangalore. So you spend around 6k and at least 3 hours in a good scenario.

Now by High Speed Train - You go to Chennai in 6 hours. From there you take a bus/train to Bangalore - another 6 hours. So in 12 hours you reach Bangalore by spending about 4k in all.

Now compare with the Train travel TODAY. Huge difference.

Fair point but I still think money could be better spent in the railways itself and HSR can also act as a huge Propganda tool for the Govt

Chinese help is very vital in this project because they have quality experience in building long high-speed train corridors. Their 2,298 km-long Beijing-Guangzhou line is world's largest corridor. If completed then 1,754 km-long Delhi-Chennai high-speed train corridor will be world's second largest bullet train line.

OKay, China can help india to build their high-speed railway system and earn $$$$. I only wish if the deal done, some Indian trollers can sh@t up to make fake news to China again.

I just fix a Indian troller which country has the most poor ppl under poverty line(1.25 $ per day) inside real Asia Development Bank datas ... like @Hareeshu IA MBT opened the troll thread: China has 30% 400million poor ppl under Poverty Line by ADB. #39 :D
