INDIAN COAST GUARD MAKES THIRD ARREST OF SRI LANKAN FISHERMAN

In its third apprehension of the week and tenth of the year, Indian Coast Guard has seized two more Sri Lankan fishing boats with 10 fishermen for allegedly fishing in Indian waters.

ICGS Avvaiyyar found Lankan boats ‘‘Jaya Isuru’’ and ‘‘Yug Gaya’’ about 109 nautical miles off the Chennai coast in the late hours on Tuesday, a Coast Guard release said. Their catch weighing around 2,000 kg of was also confiscated.

The boats were apprehended for violating MZI Act of 1981 and illegally fishing in the Indian Exclusive Zone, the release said.

Earlier this week, Coast Guard had seized two Lankan boats on May 29 and three more boats on May 31 for allegedly fishing in Indian waters. Since January, Coast Guard has apprehended 22 Sri Lankan boats with over a hundred crew and total catch of 22,400 kg, according to the release.

When Srilankan Navy keeps killing Indian Fishermen without any reason there was no protest? Now we have arrested U cry foul. Ask the Govt for safe passage through proper channel

Indians are crazy there days, Sri Lanka should seriously retaliate.

If our fisherman has crossed the line then it's our fault, these illegal acts must be stopped by banning them for fishing for month or two.

Yes indeed.

If Sri Lankan fishermen are caught crossing the line, they should be arrested and their license suspended.

If Indian fishermen are caught crossing the line, they should be shot. Simple.
