Iran ready to supply electricity to Pakistan: minister - People's Daily Online June 28, 2011

Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said Monday Iran is ready to supply Pakistan with more electricity to help meet its energy needs, the local English language satellite Press TV reported on Monday.

"Given the great need of Pakistan for electricity, Iran could export its surplus electricity to the country," Namjou was quoted as saying.

Iran is prepared to increase its electricity exports to Pakistan by 1,000 megawatts by the next three years, he said during a meeting with the visiting Pakistani Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Asim Hussain.

Iran is setting up a new electricity grid to deliver its electricity to Pakistan, he said, adding that "Power lines are being installed (inside Iran) and Pakistan should take appropriate measures for transferring Iran's electricity."

Iranian companies are capable of setting up combined cycle power plants in Pakistan within 13 months, said Iranian minister.

For his part, the Pakistani minister said that Pakistan is eager to overcome its electricity shortage through Iran's electricity supply.

Hussain said that his country faces a shortfall of more than 5, 000 megawatts of electricity that Iran could supply a portion of the need.

Well I think Pakistan should really intensify its goals to get electricity from Iran and also the gas pipeline

The UAV programs should help patrol the gas pipelines that Bugti clan keeps bombing up , we should get some airborne UAVs to help patrol pipelines
