Kashmiris to observe Black Day today

August 15 | 2013 AFP

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe the Indian Independence Day, August 15 as Black Day marked by complete strike in Indian occupied
Kashmir and protest rallies in the world capitals. Call for the strike has been given by APHC Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, veteran Hurriyet leader Syed Ali Gilani and other pro-liberation leaders to convey the message to India that it had no moral justification to observe its Independence Day in Jammu and Kashmir as it had usurped all fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people. On the other hand, the entire occupied territory has been turned into a military garrison ahead of the Indian Independence Day, Kashmir Media Service reported.

Large numbers of Indian troops and police personnel are patrolling roads and streets, causing inconvenience to the people. Sharp shooters have been deployed in strength in all sensitive areas and vital installations in Srinagar. Strict checking of vehicles and pedestrians is being carried out in all major towns. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Zafar Akbar Butt in their statements urged the UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-Moon, to play an effective role in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per the Kashmiris' aspirations in line with the relevant UN resolutions.

Shabbir Ahmed Shah, telephonically addressing various functions in Pakistan, while Hurriyet leaders, Aasiya Andrabi, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Zafar Akbar Butt, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj and Muhammad Farooq Rehmani, in their statements felicitated the people and government of Pakistan on the occasion of their Independence Day. APHC leader, Yasmeen Raja, chairing a meeting of her party in Srinagar appreciated Pakistan for extending continued political, moral and diplomatic support to the Kashmir cause.

The APHC-AJK chapter at a prayer meeting presided over by its Convener, Syed Yousuf Naseem, in Islamabad, on Wednesday, prayed for the integrity, solidarity and prosperity of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two Kashmiri youth in Keran area of Kupwara. A Kashmiri truck driver and a conductor were injured after they were attacked by Hindu rioters in Samba district.

Complete shutdown was observed for the third consecutive day, in Pulwama and Shopian against the illegal detention of youth by Indian police. The authorities continued to impose curfew restrictions in Kishtwar, Rajouri, Jammu, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur and Doda districts of Jammu region for the sixth consecutive day.

By Jagtar Singh-

CHANDIGARH: The Dal Khalsa today termed country’s Independence Day 15 as a day of betrayal and deceit by the Indian leadership with the Sikhs and stressed India’s history of broken promises in Punjab.

Dal Khalsa chief Harchranjit Singh Dhami called upon Sikh people to observe India’s Independence Day on August 15 as ‘black day’ and stay away from celebrations. “As a matter of fact we are not against India or its people but unless the country it fulfills the demands and addresses aspirations of the people of Punjab in general and Sikhs in particular, there is no moral justification to celebrate it as Independence Day”, he said.

He said it had been clear to the Sikhs for decades they could not get any justice or progress within the confines of the present Indian political system that was so viciously opposed to our legitimate goals, desires and aspirations. Outstanding issues dating back to partition days remain unresolved to this day despite promises from the Indian leadership to help find a solution.

Dhami said the Sikhs were not alone in this struggle against New Delhi’s hegemony. Right now, the Kashmiris, Nagas and Assamese were also observing India's Independence Day as a Black Day. He condemned the flagrant violations of the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and said violence in Kishtwar was designed to divide the people on communal lines by the vested interests.

He pointed out that the statement by Minister of State for Home RPN Singh in the Lok Sabha regarding the revival of militancy in Punjab attributed to Sikh militant groups was designed to damage the image of the community.

LIke really, Dal Khalsa? Sikhs on average are even more patriotic about Inida than the average Hindu. Deep down inside I bet even the OP knows that, And yet they come here to shed crocodile tears for them....

No one cares...

On contrary we should....

We should care about these rebel groups no matter how small and inconsequential they are.

Maoists need to be dealt will, the groups that w can engage with we should talk to them, the ones we cannot talk to should be shot with extreme prejudice.

Omar Abdullah government needs to go from kashmir, this family has a history of fostering groups anti-national sentiments under the curtain and play it out during elections. Kashmiri militants needs to be crushed, not just crushed but decimated at every opportunity. Anti-national kashmiris and pakistani sympathizers need to be realigned by Sam Dam Dan bhed and if that doesn't works by 7.62 x 39.

There is no potential for any revival of khalistan nonsense, as it was entirely a state sponsored stupidity, but we nee to keep a keen eye on this.

This will fix all of your problems, brilliant strategy sir.

I/6th of world population attributes to 1/6th of worlds problem!

I thought Indians took them to be their 'internal issues' - what happened to that narrative, is that still relevant?

It will! Baat and Laat... that is the combination for solution

It is an internal issue, when did it become international issue, all of these issues affect india and not any other country, hence an internal issue, or atleast that what I understand by internal issue...

Is that how you treat your fellow citizens who 'ought to be equals' in 'Planet's biggest democracy' ?

these sources are as good as my toilet paper. BDW no one really cares, they are handful in number :smokin:

Absolutely, you go against the constitution be ready for the laat, if you exercise your democratic right of freedom of speech then welcome for baat!

But, sir your constitution doesn't provide the right for 'Self determination' and 'Succession' - Which are fundamental human rights by birth. How do you make a choice between denying your fellow citizens their Bhagwan given right to Self determination & Succession , and enforcing by armed lethal force, a constitution upon them which many of them don't bear allegiance to? - Please make me understand how do you make that distinction and how is it justifiable?
