LR-SAM, Akash orderbook at $2 bn : BEL

Reject it then after a change of government induct it :D . thats what we call shoving down the throat . anyways your military your choice
Same for jf-17 , PaF bend down for cheap new age mig-21.:p: Honestly, what choice do they have.

Malaysia .

Malaysia is a Pakistani SAM?

The question was to name a medium range, surface to air missile system like Akash that Pakistan has designed and exported. Or just designed.

Just the sheer complexity of something like Akash is way beyond Pakistan's ability for decades to come. Forget the Rajendra phased array radar or the missiles themselves, I doubt Pakistan can even produce a launch vehicle. ie, the truck it is mounted on.

Come back when Pakistan can design systems like these:

I guess he is talking about Anza shoulder launched missile.

Yea, I know. Like most delusional Pakistanis, @JOEY TRIBIANI believes that licence producing a simple, unsophisticated Chinese designed shoulder fired missile is better than inventing, designing and then manufacturing complex weapons systems like Akash.

An Anza is just a hand held missile. An Akash is a sophisticated system consisting of several Electronically Scanned Array radars, command and control centers, firing units, IFFs, ECCMs and so on. All the individual units that make up the Akash system are way beyond Pakistan's technological abilities, and will remain so for the foreseeable future.

@JOEY TRIBIANI : To spare yourself some embarrassment, go educate yourself about the quantum leap in complexity between assembling low tech Chinese stuff and designing complex systems like MRSAMs with their associated command and control centers and so on.

Our scientists and engineers designed and developed the electronics and other stuff for the Akash. Pakistanis cannot hope to emulate us in these endeavors - for the next thirty years, they can only licence produce some MANPADs designed by their Chinese daddies, and pretend that that is is as good as what we do, which is designing, developing and manufacturing our own weapon systems.

Yeah everything we use is Chinese while any things india assemble is indigenous .for eg: brahmos .

LR-SAM, Akash orderbook at $2 bn; 15-17% margin sustainable:

View attachment 379176

BEL LR-SAM and Akash missile system orders could be nearly worth USD 2 billion, adding roughly Rs 13,000 crore to total orderbook in the coming quarters, says MV Gowtama, Chief Managing Director of BEL.

MV Gowtama (more) CMD, Bharat Electronics Limited | The orders for LR-SAM and Akash missile system can be worth nearly USD 1 billion each, adding roughly Rs 13,000 crore to BEL 's total order book in the coming quarters, says Chairman and Managing Director MV Gowtama. The current orderbook is around Rs 34,000 crore.

While negotiations for Akash is underway and expected to be completed soon, the negotiations for LRSAM is expected to conclude by March. The company currently has margin of around 18-19 percent. But Gowtama says it is not sustainable. A 15-17-percent margin is achievable, he says in an interview to CNBC-TV18. Gowtama expects double-digit growth in defence over the next 10 years backed by India's focus on self-reliance in defence. He said the company is investing heavily into R&D with about 10 percent of revenues going into research.

The company is also heavily ramping up execution capabilities. Below is the verbatim transcript of MV Gowtama's interview to Latha Venkatesh, Sonia Shenoy and Anuj Singhal on CNBC-TV18.

is this a ballistic missible or surface to air missible, why so bulky

Akash uses the same body as the SA-6 SAM, NATO designation Kub. However, despite the external resemblance, Akash has made extensive overhauls and updates to the internal components making it more effective against a wider class of targets versus the original 2K12 missile system. Not to mention the supporting architecture of command and control, targeting and identification systems which share little, if any commonality with the original design.

Despite some limitations, Akash is nothing to scoff at. Used correctly, in a massive linked network combining multiple launchers and their associated hardware, in conjunction with assets including Spyder or S-XXX and ABM assets and it provides a very potent shield to Indian airspace.

It mirrors the same path as other air-defense missiles like S-300 or PATRIOT, making repeated inclimental improvements on a base design, often with software or seekers and motors to make the performance of the weapon greater and able to keep up with existing and emerging threats and countermeasures.

AIM-120, Sidewinder, Python, SM-2, it's the same everywhere you look. Taking a base design and making it better. Akash takes the body of the SA-6 missile, but has made such extensive internal modifications and modernizations that it's largely, and is considered an entirely new weapon system and not an extension of the Kub family.

Let's not forget that China's HQ-9 does the same, resulting in an entirely new class of weapon system from the original S-300. HQ-16 and its Buk origins are another example of a new design being derived from an existing system.

It's a SAM.

Could be converted to a ballistic missile though. China's DF-7 surface-to-surface ballistic missile was a modified S-75 SAM (SA-2), combining parts of the aft end of the S-75 with a different frontal and guidance section.

I'm not suggesting it should be, but it's viable.

Ehmmm Nigeria , Myanmar

Are you Nuts!!,
Nigeria and Myanmar ?? whats their defence budget ??

A country which has over 40 Billion usd defence budget will not compromise unlike Myanmar/ Nigeria (in case of JF 17)

There is a difference If Myanmar had money it would definitely opted for Typhoon/ Rafale/ Su 35 but had to opt ofr JF for obious reasons.
On the other hand IA with ample funds opted for Akash !!

Sorry for being a late comer to the discussion but from the design of the missile it seems that akash is a SRAMJet powered?
