What's new

Mao Zedong's 120th birthday anniversary

The ones loved Mao are the elites. normal people dislike him. no one wants another culture revolution. it's paniful.

Are you kidding me? Most peasants love Mao.

I am related to KMT, my family was upper class during the ROC-KMT era, then it went to average people after CPC came to the reign. But i still support Mao and his CPC over Chiang's KMT, because they united my country.

Dunno why you are so fond of Chiang, Chiang and his faction of KMT only trusted the KMT members from Zhejiang. Those were their "嫡系" AKA the elite faction of Chiang's KMT. If you are not from Zhejiang, then you are only a second class KMT member.

Chiang could never mobilize the Chinese mass like Mao did, because of the nature of his ruling class.

No matter what you would like to say about the Communist, they are good at mobilizing the masses and implementing grand project. Some of these projects went horribly wrong, but don't forget the one that went right. They did the best they could, today it is easy to criticize with 20-20 hindsight, but during those time they do not have that luxury.

Given the lesson for China prior in the 19th and 20th century, that ability is exactly what a country that is so much far behind the world needed. It is the fastest and most efficient way for China to lay the foundation to even begin to compete in the world stage.

it is the correct choice to carry out the Chinese people deepest wish, to stand on our own two feet, to carry our destiny on our own shoulder.

Chinese has every reason to commemorate Mao's achievement.

Attempt to manipulate those history in order to try to gain some contemporary political point is not healthy.

The challenges that China face today is nothing like Mao's time. China should set her eye forward and not dwell in the past.

One needs not be loved by everyone to be a great man。

Mao was without a shadow of a doubt a great man。

There are a few his equals in the entire Chinese history。

You are right, many difficulties are still lied ahead of CPC, we all need to look forward to the future.

India never wanted to invade Tibet, the forward policy is all about keeping the strategic regions all along the border under Indian control.

You invaded Goa, in which was a Portugis possession for hundred years

The poor ppl like him, a revolt flag, a spiritual belief. It's Mao Zedong !

too bad he doesn't like them
And Mao says some remarkable things about the peasants he was supposed to be championing. When they were starving in the 1950's, he instructed: "Educate peasants to eat less, and have more thin gruel. The State should try its hardest . . . to prevent peasants eating too much." In Moscow, he offered to sacrifice the lives of 300 million Chinese, half the population at the time, and in 1958 he blithely declared of the overworked population: "Working like this, with all these projects, half of China may well have to die."
:pleasantry: :china:

Mao Zedong is not some GOD, just a normal human. During his old age from 1960s to early 1970s, he fell into the personality cult and power vortex.

As i listed in above post, Mao did the good more than the bad for China, and when pass away he left a strong China:
1. 1970s China can design & produce aircrafts/cars/ships/missiles/rockets/satellites
2. During 1960s-1970s P.R.C completed Nuclear & Space industry develop & research
3. During 1950s-1970s P.R.C completed the industrial revolution inside mainland of China.
4. Compared with 1949, Chinese population rapidly increase.
5. 1970s P.R.C return U.N, as one of five permanent members
6. In Cold War, Mao successfully developed diplomatic ties with the West.

Except Mao's power struggle at his old age, Mao's China completed the industrial development. It is the footstone to future powerful China , Mao's time has beneficial contributions to the China development.

After 1980s Deng's China, he didn't deny the merits of Mao. China continue developing above Mao's contributions in PRC.

For relationship between Annam/Vietnam and China, it belongs to Mao's foreign policy, different discussion topic to Mao's development inside P.R.C.

Mao's influence, a kind of fight belief. It's no mater whether Mao know & like them, they just believe in Mao's skills & experiences in struggle.

if people did bad things you say they did bad things, even Mao was accepted his mistakes after GLF, it doesn't mean take away good things, just like Mr HCM sold country to white man French doesn't mean he could not be superior human being, just acknowledge both ok

Mao was responsible for millions of Chinese death because of inferior policy, it's not considered as efficient or successful way of industrialisation my China friend

the peasant like him but his comrades did not, it was your master Soviet put him in power

Long live our beloved Chairman Mao and long live the Mao Zedong Thought

All you guys never live under the age of Mao and none of you was raped by communist. Your entire families or clans are not wipe out.

林昭

Communist raped and killed her.

The ability to ward off foreign aggression does not give communist to kill 30 millions in peace time Great Leap Forward within 3-4 years. The Sino Japan WW2 killed 26 millions in 8 years, far less than what communist did.

As I have mentioned, Mao legacy is a mix bag. He unite China and build a strong army which is a pre-requisite for China's emergence. His tyranny is unparalleled.
