depends on what you read the 2003 protest were said at 500,000 to 1 million this could be bigger but 400,000 is overestimating.

That is not a small rally but a very big protest rally, as We local HKer are not happy with what the
Beijing authories and Wolf Leung had done. The celebrate ceremony is just a paid event to makeup
for the HK government even so which are much less attendents than the rally. Completely no match at
all.

First of all the people in Hong Kong have to accept the ground reality, HK IS a part of China and NO ONE can change it. A short term dissatisfaction of a government doe not make it long term norm. Once we accept these we can deal with things in different perspectives. For those who bring back the memories of the old Brit rule as comparisons are just unrealistic and insidious.

There is no government in the world that satisfies the whole population and the dissenting elements should accept that too and seek changes from within, rather than rely on outside resources to put the government into a embarrass position which only diminish the power to bargain for both. For those that who are not satisfy with the present government should utilize the opposition politicians and medias to voice their opinions and allows the existing government time to correct itself and find changes gradually. If it doesn't change the next election will come soon enough and soon or later the new electoral will evolve the true representation of the people. That's a part of political process.

To demonstrate in a peaceful manner is good and the government will take that into considerations but waving the British flags around is something else. It embarrass me as a Chinese and a Hongkonher to no end.
