More classified US documents shared in new leak – NYT

The Pentagon and Justice Department said they are investigating the alleged unauthorized disclosures

Scores of secret US national security files have appeared online after another major leak, the New York Times has reported, noting that the new documents include “sensitive” material related to Ukraine, China, the Middle East and terrorism.
The breach comes just one day after other “top secret” papers showing US and NATO war plans in Ukraine made the rounds on social media.
The new trove of documents was spotted on Twitter and other platforms on Friday afternoon, in what one senior US intelligence official described as a “nightmare” for Western security services, according to the NYT. While the full scope of the leak has yet to be determined and the authenticity of the files remains unverified, the outlet suggested the latest breach could include “more than 100 documents” in total.
Similar to another classified disclosure first reported on Thursday, some of the files detail intelligence related to the conflict in Ukraine. One “top secret” document shows a US assessment of the situation in the city of Artyomovsk (known as Bakhmut in Ukraine), which has largely come under Moscow’s control after months of bitter fighting.
However, the new leak does not stop with Ukraine and covers a variety of other subjects, including “sensitive briefing slides on China, the Indo-Pacific military theater, the Middle East and terrorism,” the NYT added, stating that the scale of the breach appears to have caught the White House “off guard.”
The Pentagon said on Thursday that it would investigate the matter, while the Justice Department later announced its own separate probe. It said it was in communication with military officials, but neither have shared any additional details.
Following the prior leak earlier this week, officials said they were working to remove the material from the internet, though those efforts appear to have been unsuccessful so far, as many of the documents remain accessible on social media.
According to one unnamed official cited by the NYT, determining the source of the breach would begin with “identifying which officials had access to them.” Staffers at several national security agencies described a “rush” to find the leaker, voicing concerns that this week’s disclosures would turn into a “steady drip of classified information” published online.

Probably the “War Thunder” type people that leak information to win arguments. Discord, where the leaks seem to have originated, is probably about to get “Liberated”

Wow even DF-27 replacement for DF-17 HGV has been flying and anti-ship variants for DF-27 may be in service according to US.

DF-17 therefore certainly has anti-shipping role but booster is the medium range type.

Combined cycle engined or oblique or rotating detonation engined HCM glider (several Chinese projects that have flown or engines that have been tested either ground or flown) > winged glider type HGV (DF-17 and DF-27 probably) > dual cone "common glide body" HGV (various types of MaRV from many nations are possibly using this style of gliding) > basic scramjet HCM (Zircon, and various US and Chinese programs).

So far China has flown/tested and/or fielded all the above. US may cancel Lockheed Martin's ARRW winged boost glide HGV after last recent failure as Raytheon lobbies for their basic slower speed HCM (compared to Lockheed's HGV).

Russia has one short ranged ballistic missile designed for air launch (Kinzhal) and Zircon basic HCM.

US has a double cone common glide body MaRV style medium range ballistic missile. Others are all still programs in testing and design phase.
Now China just needs to build about a dozen OTH radar bases (processed by supercomputers, and networked) like JORN all over China to cover the entire Indo-Pacific; from the Red Sea/Barb-Al-Mandab to Alaska. Sharing this kind of data with partners in the region like Pakistan can help keep India’s navy better bogged down and less likely to be available to challenge China. Pakistan (and other Chinese partners like Myanmar and Cambodia) for its part will have to build seawave radars ; OTH for the surface of the sea systems as well as drone to monitor ionospheric conditions to better corroborate the data from the Chinese Skywave OTH targeting information, while constellation of Chinese EO, SAR, and Comms micro satellites could refine monitor the ionosphere and sea surface as well as air space as well as corroborate the data further.

Perhaps even super low altitude satellites will be brought back by China, to operate in the ionosphere itself.

Swarms of these kinds of drones continuously flying over the ocean could act as receivers and delays for OTH data.

These leaks will let know how China can improve its A2AD capabilities as well as how to better prepare for an invasion of Taiwan.

Very detail information from 12:27-17:22

Terrible leak for the Ukraine war effort if its authentic.

By the way, in case people want to know

TS - Top Secret
SI - Sensitive Information
REL - Releasable
TO USA, well, to USA....
FEVY - Five Eyes (US, UK, Australia, Canada and NZ)

Those are actually quite low level leak..

What about NOFORN; no foreigner. That’s not the highest level of secrecy but it’s still significant.

Pretty much every piece of classified material have NOFORN tag on it.

Those are TS but not SCI and can be shared between 5 eyes, those aren't really top of the chain level document

You are talking about a Low-Medium Clearence, you don't even need to store those in a SCIF.

yes, there are five categories above TS …

Depends on which system, if you are talking about Military system, yes, but there are 2 more for executive level clearance, only people who are working closely with Executive Branch can assess.

But yes, this is low - medium level leak, as I said, you don't even need to store these documents in a SCIF, those are pretty low priority.

How the hell can a 21 year old have access to such sensitive information ??????? Even if he worked in intelligence - such aggregrated information should have more restrictions on its distribution. At 21, i would expect him to work in an individual stream and not know or ever see the bigger picture ?!?!?!

Shocking !!!!!

Guess… it’s really sad…what is the one thing many organizations large and small skim on; cybersecurity

everytime docs leak we see world is more dirty then previously .
I think it’s more accurate to say, you remember what it’s really like, until you forget again.
