Horus is an integrated vehicle management system comprising of vehicle mounted GPS-based tracking devices, communicating over multiple networking technologies in a hybrid environment and versatile multi-tier command and control infrastructure. It comprehensively addresses the problems of managing, tracking, monitoring and assisting any number of vehicles registered with the system.

Components And Types

Horus allows integration of different kinds of communication infrastructure including GPRS/SMS.HF/VHF/UHF and satellite modems for relaying GPS coordinates of vehicle. In all terrain geographical location. The system comprises of wired and wireless gateways for consideration, display and management of information. The system supports a multi-tier command and control infrastructure and provides authenticated access control at different level of enchelons for operational purposes. Horus vehicle management system consists of the following components.

* Central Command and Control Center
* Static and Mobile Management Centers
* Tracking Devices

Features

The system comes with host of configurable features. Any capability defined below can be disabled using system configuration utility at installation time from the command console.
Situation awareness

Displaying GPS based update s and display of the registered vehicles to respective management center and central command and control center. Real-time status and generation of triggers for matters of concern.
Vehicle Managements

Database for Recording and Replaying vehicles routes Reports and returns with data fusion and consolidation Preformatted and format free massages.
Command and Control Console

· Add-Del registration of vehicles in the system.

· Create multiple Domains and associate different vehicles to appropriate domain.

· Diversion and situational alerts.

· Geo-fencing defining, downloading and enforcing.


Geographical Information System

* Multi layers of Electronic Maps
* Map manipulation Features
* Zoom in, out, Pan, Rotate e.t.c
* Navigation help with distance and speed calculation

Security

Multi Layers of security with state of the art encryption, authentication and key generation protocols.

All govt. vehicles from civil side should also be linked with it.
Good development... i already civil applications and export potential.
 
I think all Al-Khalid MBTs are already in the system. There was an article long time ago in DAWN newspaper's Sci-tech world on this.

They said that they want this system on Army's land rovers/4x4s etc as the system will detect them as enemy and engage them.


Pretty neat i must say.
 
Battle field grid. A network of vehicles all knowing where they are and where they are headed, coordinating attacks. Awesome.
 
This is the civil version of the military Integrated Battlefield Management System or IBMS.

The Sakb and the Al Khalid and Al Zarrar main battle tanks are all being equipped with the Integrated Battlefield Management System (IBMS), a system to track friendly and enemy positions similar to the US Army's Blue Force Tracking.

The IBMS uses VHF and UHF communications and each vehicle can act as a relay. The integration of the systems is already under way and is scheduled to be finished by December, said Mohsin Rahmatullah, director of business development, which developed the IBMS together with HIT. The hardware from the system may be exported, most likely first to the United Arab Emirates, Rahmatullah said.

The current innovation for this system is to integrate other subscribers to in theatre movements.
 
What is this can any one tell me about that...

Allows vehicles to work together and plan an attack or any other battlefield movement. Sort of like the maps you see in RTS games ala red alert...
Vehicles can work in MANET's.. entering a leaving a formation at will, becoming part of a formation and receiving joint orders. or working independently.

?can it be hacked by enemy used against u.

Can be, but not an easy task.. and not one that will land too many benefits.
 
Will it not be exceedingly simple to throw this network centric warfare system into chaos? If we come up against an advanced enemy, they could posses the ability to destroy satellites in space. What will happen in the event that satellite(s) being used by the Pak army is blown up during a major ground battle in which the Al-Khalid is engaging enemy targets?

Low tech backups exist.. involving vehicles judging their position and keeping track of movements..
although it is less accurate and degrades with time.
 
Can anyone shed some light upon the internet speed you get in this vehicle management. I mean for situation awareness; & linking to other vehicles via a live stream video [from my estimate] may demand in excess of 7-10mb speed. Less than this & you get crappy video & mind it in such scenarios we are not talking abt Youtube like streaming we are talking about encrypted video & other data transfers that will definitely increase the bandwidth requirement.

Microwave links.. so dont expect anything faster than your usual GPRS.. however, that is all that you need..
Video is not part of the equation.. and the data that needs to be sent has more than sufficient BW available to it.
 
Who developed this system?
and millitary standard microwave links are capable upto 155mpbs!
