Chinese Vice President Xi Jingping affirmed that Government of China will pledge its continuous support to the economic development and well being of Sri Lanka. Mr. Xi Jingping made these remarks at an official meeting held with Sri Lanka Prime Minister D. M. Jayaratne at Great Hall of People’s Republic of China.

During the discussion Prime Minister Mr. Jayaratne conveyed warm wishes of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the people of Sri Lanka to Chinese Vice President Xi Jingping and through him to President Hu Jintao. Further, Mr. Jayaratne expressed gratitude for the assistance extended to Sri Lanka by Chinese Government and for the continuous support pledged for infrastructure development.
