Some days back a traffic warden stops me on Feorozpur road at night and he ask me that your back light is not working, i checked that and it was not working (i knew it's dangerous for me as well as for others) but i ask him to release me without CHALLAN, he was committed to do CHALLAN. at the end i as hi "yar NRO ke through he chor do" he laugh and ask me that jaoo yar my name is Parveez Musharaf and you are Zaradri.

wasy mujhay us kay Parveez Mushraf hony ka afsoos nahi hwa but apnay Zaradri ho ka always rahy ga,.......

What else we can expect from these peoples…………one more step towards “not reconciliation ordinance” between govt. and people of Pakistan

Get used to, it is democracy ... govt with majority in NA will approve bills even though they are unpopular ... people of Pakistan have voted them in power for law making and that is exactly what they did ...

This also cleares any confusion about power of the SCoP vs. the NA ... this example proves that NA has jurisdiction over SCoP's verdict(s) ...

Nawaz Sharif got his NRO through the SCoP and if he was true opposition then he must have shown his street power through peaceful demonstrations BUT this is all a big deal which favours NS, CJP and Zardari ... all of the above mentioned have some level of support in pakistan this means that these deals have actually fulfilled the will of the people.

Acha to Is lye Ganje aur Mr 10% ne Mehfil lagae the.. hmmm

Govt railroads NRO through NA committee

SLAMABAD: The National Reconciliation bill was cleared for tabling in the lower house after majority of the 17-member National Assembly’s committee on law and justice adopted on Friday the NRO bill of 2009 with some amendments.

Opposition parties termed the bill’s passage bulldozing by the treasury and the PML-N boycotted final stages of the committee meeting while the PML-Q opposed the legislation.

On Thursday, PML-Q lawmakers urged the government to produce a list of beneficiaries, including people who had been exonerated even in murder and dacoity cases, to the committee. The request went unheeded.

According to insiders, PML-N and PML-Q lawmakers put up a stiff resistance to the clause-by-clause adoption of the bill after it was decided to remove Clause 4 and 5, binding police to get permission from parliament’s committee before arresting any lawmaker.

The bill’s seventh clause was also amended, necessitating all accused to get themselves acquitted through courts.

Begum Nasim Chaudhry of the PPP, who chaired the meeting, said that clauses one, two, three and seven had been adopted and clauses four and five removed and the seventh had been amended.

Zahid Hamid of the PML-N said his party had opposed every clause of the bill, while PML-Q lawmakers vowed to resist it wherever it was presented.

PML-Q’s Amir Muqam staged a walkout against what he called the government’s refusal to identify people who had benefited under the NRO and their party affiliations.

He said: ‘I told the committee that NRO was promulgated after an agreement between PPP’s Benazir Bhutto and former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf under which the former was to become prime minister and the latter to remain president for five years, but it became void after the death of the PPP chairperson.

‘We believe that the NRO became irrelevant and not binding on … anyone who could benefit from it.’

Agencies add: The committee recommended that the bill should not be restricted to public office holders and should include other politically-victimised people, adding that victimisation of public office holders should be stopped.

It was observed that public office holders were even physically and mentally tortured without due process of law or justification.

Members of the committee said the ordinance had been promulgated to promote reconciliation and to ensure transparency in elections, besides allowing federal or provincial governments to withdraw cases before the pronouncement of a judgment.

Otherwise it might be done by a review board on the basis of the record. An equal opportunity, the committee said, should be provided to public office holders from all political parties who had been falsely implicated in fake cases.

The meeting was attended by Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, Justice (retd) Fakharun Nisa Khokher, Chaudhry Abdul Ghafoor, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Shakila Khanam Rasheed, Tariq Shabbir, Zahid Hamid, Justice (retd) Iftikhar Ahmed Cheema, Anusha Rahman Khan, Saira Afzal Tarar, Mohammad Raza Hayat Hiraj, Amir Muqam, S.A. Iqbal Qadri and Saeed Ahmed Zafar.

Members of the MQM and Riaz Futyana abstained from the voting.

Later, Zahid Hamid said that there were seven votes in favour of the bill while six legislators voted against it. The clauses were adopted without debate, he added. PML-Q’s forward bloc also stayed away.

The committee decided NRO should be enforced retrospectively from Oct 5, 2007.

NRO is an illegitimate brain child of Musharraf, get use to accept this fact. The looters and criminals came back into power only because of this black ordinance. What are you expecting from them, to abandon the ordinance that laundered them from all their crimes? Instead of blaming the person who created that, you are blaming the democracy and the Supreme Court of Pakistan. There seems no end of the hatred you have for the democracy, and the supremacy of the Supreme Court only in the senseless love or whatever of a military dictator. Instead of supporting PML(N) that at least they apposed this ordinance, you are maligning them and the SCOP for a NRO from SCOP. What NRO from SCOP? Organizing a peaceful demonstration in the streets….So hundreds or so die in a suicide attack? Do you have a clue what is the security situation in Pakistan? Your analysis is pathetic from every angle and defies logic altogether.

NRO = National Robers Ordinance

Even if both Houses of the Parliament passes it, it will still be thrown in the garbage by the judiciary.

No lawyer in the world can defend this hypocrisy in court.

Mr Zardari may start the hole sale buy up of NA votes like he did to become president will only go towards wasting more tax payers money.

This travesty of NRO will soon be eradicated.

NRO has not even been debated yet in parliament I think that the comittee held only PPP members so I don't really think it is the end plus they still need to buy the seats in the senate

NRO will not be presented in the Parliment

Farhat-ullah Babar - Presidential Spokesman

Now what exactly will happen now, all the people who were benefited by this bill will have to face the court of law. Will the judiciary act as an independent institution without pressures and bribes. Will the whole process be swift and decisive without dragging them for decades and wasting more money of the tax payers or will those people ensure the continuity of their pillage of our treasures? The nation is desperate for a change .... there was a huge mobilization of people from all over the country for the independence of the Judiciary so that Justice can prevail....Has it, or will it any time soon ?

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided not to take the controversial National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) to the parliament.

According to DawnNews TV, the decision was taken at a high-level meeting of the PPP held at the President House late on Monday evening. President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani chaired the meeting which was also attended by Rehman Malik, Raza Rabbani and Khursheed Shah.

The meeting took stock of the delicate political situation that had emerged after the scathing criticism of the NRO by the media and the opposition parties, including the PML-N and PML-Q.

It also took into consideration the MQM announcement to vote against the NRO, and the reluctance of the two coalition partners, the ANP and the JUI-F, to openly support the ordinance.

Presidential spokesperson Farhat Ullah Babar said that the meeting endorsed the position taken by the prime minister on the floor of the House on Monday, and decided not to take the NRO to the parliament.

He said that prior to the high level meeting, the President and the Prime Minister also consulted the coalition partners.

MQM clarifies position

According to the APP, an MQM delegation led by Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and MQM Parliamentary leader Dr Farooq Sattar called on Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at his Parliament House Chamber on Monday evening and discussed the latest political situation in the country.

The delegation clarified its position regarding its alleged demand for the resignation of President Zardari. They informed the prime minister that the MQM chief Altaf Hussain had not issued any such statement.

Minister for Ports and Shipping, Babar Khan Ghori and MNA, Syed Haider Abbas Rizvi were also part of the MQM delegation.

Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Babar Awan, Minister for Petroleum, Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Labour and Manpower, Syed Khursheed Shah and Senator Raza Rabbani were also present in the meeting.
