Students from Shanghai Jiaotong University have been crowned the 2010 ACM (ACM) International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Champions. Sponsored by IBM (NYSE: IBM), the competition took place today at Harbin Engineering University (HEU) in Harbin, China, home of the International Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival.

Referred to as " The Battle of the Brains," the ACM ICPC World Finals challenged the world's top 103 university teams to use open standard technology in designing software that solves real-world problems.

"These students are at the top of their field, with the potential to solve the world's most serious problems," said Dr. Bill Poucher, ICPC executive director and professor of the Baylor University. "The ACM-ICPC provides the forum for these students to showcase their capabilities and gain exposure among top recruiters, like IBM who are in need of fresh talent to fill the jobs of tomorrow."

Instead of being luring away by IBM jobs, each gold medal-winning
Chinese student should be rewared $ 2 million sign-up bonus by
Chinese technology firms to get them stay in China, working for
either national defence industry or civil industries.

If so, I´ll have no doubt that some of them will be working
on the cutting edge of next gen homegrown civilian high tech products,
or next gen weaponaries such as Chinese 6th. gen fighter jet software
design packages.

Wow... Indian is so lousy in programming!!!!

Wow... Indian is so lousy in programming!!!!

No surprise there! India´s best IIT was outside the top 35 last year too, and the year before...

Chinese Tsinghua University was #2 last year.

On Topcoder competition, world´s largest competition for software

professionals, China software engineers are also well on the very top together

with Russians. And Russia needs India´s `expertise` on software in Pakfa, LOL!

India´s self-boasting image being `good` at software programming

is a hoax, the same as most other Indian progapanda.

that is IIIT- Indian institute of infornation technology.it is not even a graduate level course...they just give a diploma....:rofl:.competition where they go shows the quality of the competition.IIT wont even be anywhere near something like that.
Thanx for trying though.

Whatever, IIT or IIIT or IIIIIT... :what: no one gives two hoots about those
third-rated institutes, except deluded Indians themselves.

The fact is that the best India could offer (whatever its name is) rankes
well outside the 2nd class, let alone the first class, on software
programming on the world stage, either in the most prestitious worldwide university/college competition IBM ACM, or in any top competitions for worldwide professional engineers such as TopCoder.

So? that one is the only indian appears on the list. It only means that the rest of Indians IIT or IIIIT or IIIIIIIT teams have been terminated long ago during early stages of the competitions, thus rank ever lower!

probably some silicon vallley residents would answer that....

Why bring India into your discussion? As you are only talking about Chinese advancements. No need to compare where India stands.....

you are a stupid moron if you believe indians are good at IT.

let's make it no mistake:

China's software industry is twice as big as Indian's.
China has a very strong telecommunication industry which is building the core network for india.

This IIIt is not even a 20th rated softare engineering istitute in India. The IITs would never wate their time in something as crappy as the software competition in Harbin.

just think when diploma level can do this

wat our iit can do

and by the way i do agree chinese are head of us in eduction but we don give a damn about it

and we dont need any one to tell us wat we lack

companies wants indian proffessionals tats enough for us

you are a stupid moron if you believe indians are good at IT.
wy dont u tell tat to silicon valley u will do them great favour

let's make it no mistake:

China's software industry is twice as big as Indian's.
China has a very strong telecommunication industry which is building the core network for india.

lets say A school is good and big

does tat mean b can do tat coz is small

afterall many come from low level schools and make it big

Whatever, IIT or IIIT or IIIIIT... no one gives two hoots about those
third-rated institutes, except deluded Indians themselves.
wy dont u tell tat to bill gates
and by the way some chinese thread owner started this ;not indian

The fact is that the best India could offer (whatever its name is) rankes
well outside the 2nd class, let alone the first class, on software
programming on the world stage, either in the most prestitious worldwide university/college competition IBM ACM, or in any top competitions for worldwide professional engineers such as TopCoder.
ok one simple qestion wy do u guys copy inspite of this so called no 1
proffessionals
