Peshawar, 03 April, (Asiantribune.com): Information Minister of North West Frontier Province Iftikhar Hussain on Thursday termed Pakistan's problems and Talibanization as a result of interfering in Afghanistan and involvement of Pakistani intelligence agencies.

The minister said 95 per cent of Pakistan’s problems could be resolved if the country 'stopped interfering in Afghan affairs', adding that Talibanisation is a 'foreign-funded agenda supported by Pakistani agencies which has facilitated blood bath across Pakistan.'

"If we stop interfering in Afganistan's affairs, 95 per cent of our problems will be solved. It's warped to think all can be well here if we put others in trouble. Killing them, destroying their schools and country is called jihad and we profess puzzlement when the same happens to us. We have been involved in bloodshed there for 25 years. And this interference continues. If this wasn't so, why are there Chechens, Uzbeks, Tajiks and Arabs here? We're facing these problems because we've made these mistakes", the Awami National Party minister said while speaking at a seminar about internally displaced people from Swat and FATA here on Thursday.

The minister further said "We made warriors of immigrants; we opened training centres for them. We sought support for them; we facilitated the strengthening of their hold. Talibanisation is an international concern. We need to admit that local agencies are involved. The government is trying to resolve this issue and we need to support it otherwise this opportunity will also be lost."

While defending peace deal signed by the provincial government led by his party with the militants in Swat, the minister said the deal has consolidated government’s writ.

"There was no government writ in Swat before talks through TNSM chief Sufi Muhammad who has reigned in hardcore militants but peace has yet to be restored in '60 per cent of the valley' ", he said.

The minister added that despite objections from the US, his government held talks with the militants through Sufi Muhammad and the peace deal was working effectively.

He claimed that the federal government and the army fully support the peace process in Swat and soon Nizam-i-Adl regulations will be implemented in Malakand.

He said that all-out efforts are being made to defuse tension in the tribal areas.
