ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Wednesday said Pakistan was committed to defeating polio at every cost and looked forward to strengthening partnership with international organizations to further bolster anti-polio efforts.
In his message on the World Polio Day, the Prime Minister said, Our children are our future and we cannot allow polio to cripple our future. The Prime Minister said, Let us pledge that despite recent successes, we will not rest unless the last of our children is immunized against this deadly disease. He said a polio-free Pakistan was the governments cherished goal.
He said the World Polio Day being observed around the world today including Pakistan was a reminder to the potency of danger posed by polio to the health of the countrys children. He said the day serves as a clarion call to further gear up efforts and pool the resources to fight this scourge with unflinching determination and steel-like resolve.
He said the day also affords an opportunity to acknowledge the services of those playing an active role in making anti-polio campaigns a success.
