And they have a good reason for that

Turkey do manufacture spare parts of f-16.

f-16 blk 52 is the most advanced jet among the whole pakistani or chinese inventory(excluding 5th gen planes).

J-10C is ahead and on par with F-16V due to 5th gen tech integration.

The obvious alternative is China to the US.

Maybe Chinese hardware has improved to the point where Pakistan feels comfortable moving on from the US for its qualitative needs.

I have my doubts about quality and capability in regards to the Chinese options.

The F-16 as old as it is, is a proven and capable platform to this day. It's a shame for Pakistan that political realities don't allow it to expand its F-16 inventory much like it did for its Mirages with second hand examples.

Not just China, now Russia is also ready to sell weapons, if Pakistan can pay they will sell Su-35 too but Mig-35 is in F-16 class and much easier to get then Su-35 (Russian version).

The forum's Pakistanis who cheers for the rejection of the F-16 as front line combatants are doing it out of their childish need to poke at the US, not because they have any real understanding of military affairs in general, let alone air force in specifics.

Despite the JF-17, which is a joint venture with China, Pakistan do not have a viable native military aviation industry. The reason why countries must import their defense is because defense is an immediate need, not one that can wait for indigenous development and maturity. Therefore, before the rejection of one source must be after the security of an alternate. Everything else, like spare parts and ordnance, are peripheral.

I fully respect Pakistan's decision to reject the US as source for Pakistan's defense needs, if it ever comes to that.

US is not a reliable source of military equipment specially for PAF, US never sell top of line equipment to Pakistan which could give advantage against India.

F16 fleet with araams is the ONLY THING stopping total air supremacy of over 250 su30mki

YOUR THUNDERS are excellent for replacimg chinease F7/PG/P but the cuttimg EDGE OF PAF has to be USA F16 until J31 IS aviailable in post 2025

THEY WHERE are right track..........................UNTIL USA pulled the PLUG

Unless YOUR suggesting the JF17 is the answer

Guys try to read into a diplomatically worded message...

It's not just supplier of aircraft... they are threatening to change camp

The F16s are not going anywhere, we just wont buy more U.S planes in the future

In the meantime we are heading onto block 3 and eventually onto J31/TFX

A few more interim f16s were always in our plans but not essential

JUST HOW SICK WOULD PAF feel if USA really started F16/70 production in india

its total 360 degree turnaround

will such statements bring USA on the negotiation table? excellent if they do but probably not. The onus comes on PAF for not only going for a 5th gen plane but also finding a suitable replacement for F-16 in coming years.

hmmm not a problem.

LM can and will convert the line to F-35s.

And there will still be orders for subsystems and support (much of it contracted out).

On the flip side, what if PAF decides to dispose of its F-16's to Iran or North Korea to hurt USA?

Like russia built your naval and airforce infrastructure completely????
and without having any problem with ruskies you are diversifing your millitary imports.???
It is true for the 60s-70s and early 80's when India took off the shelf purchases. But if you look the indian defense forse not only diversified the procurement; they also custom made it to the indian military tactics. Just to name a few Su30 was Su30 MKI or T-90 is Bhishma.

J10 can bring in the AESA capable fighter tech in PAF.

PAF wont go for Mig-35, IAF has tons of experience on Mig-29, a similar case with Flanker series, IAF flies SU30 and at some stage may be able to match avionics of SU35 to bring both planes on par leaving no edge for PAF.
IAF getting Rafale can hurt PAF here. While the J-10 is not tested in combat, Rafale has seen combat. EF can be considered sanction prone being a consortium of nations who produced it, its easy to negotiate with one country (France) rather than a few (UK, Italy etc).

Just order 36 J-10 or any other long range two engine fighter from US off the shelf basis will give US military leaders heart attack since they blackmail a lot about F-16 supplies.
Do it or die slow death.
Iran, Cuba and many others who defies US still living happily hence we have friends like Turkey and China if not US but we still have many better options to get better weapons.
If PAF had shown interest in J-10, they could have brought over a couple or few J10 over and tested them in ops in FATA for ground strike missions just like Z-10.
