PESHAWAR: The Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) is to enter an alliance with the Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a senior party leader told Dawn.com.

The party’s Majlis-e-Amal is going to have a meeting later in the evening today with members of the PTI which includes newly won candidate from NA-5 Pervez Khattak and PTI’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Asad Qaiser.

There are reports that Maulana Fazlur Rehman was in contact with both JI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders to form a government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, following staunch rivalry against Imran Khan.

But JI sources said that it is most likely to be part of PTI formed government. “JI has nothing against Maulana Fazlur Rehman but it would be unfair on PTI if they are not allowed to form a government after winning majority of the seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”

PML-N Punjab President Shahbaz Sharif has also said that his party supports the formation of a PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

But JI is equally going to be helping itself more than PTI by forming a coalition.

“We weren’t part of the previous elections in 2008, and the best way to come back in politics is to be either actively involved as opposition or be part of the government. JI leaders feel that by joining hands with PTI in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, it will revive its chances of doing better in the next elections.” the JI source added.

JI won seven provincial seats in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and three NA seats.

“We are not in a bargaining position with the PTI for the KPK government because our numbers of seats are few, but PTI realises that it does need JI to deal with the Taliban in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. PTI will also need the more experienced JI leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who are aware of the matters of the province and can help Imran with the governance there.” According to the JI source.

JI leaders are disappointed with election outcome by not being able to bag as many seats as they would have wanted to have a stronger influence in the ongoing politics, and they partially blame the PTI for it. “If PTI had collaborated with JI before the elections, PML-N wouldn’t have won with a huge margin in Punjab. It was a loss for both PTI and JI” the source said. “PML-N too knows that if JI and PTI were together the Sharif’s would have never crossed hundred seats in the national assembly” He added.

The source also suggests that JI will support PTI to form an opposition party against PML-N, since PTI still hasn’t got enough seats to form the leading opposition party in the national assembly. “We will monitor PML-N’s policies regarding the United States and India, but most likely we are going to be part of the opposition in the national assembly.”

Once you are over the present state of emotional shock, please remember that voting is the most important right of an engaged citizen, and should never be given up. I am sure you, and millions of others, who feel like this, will be enthusiastic once again come the next elections.

yeah i wish that may your words come true..but the truth is...I never liked any party..for the first time I casted my vote carefully to PTI which is now in the garbage..this question keeps on shaking up my mind that next year...same story will be repeated..i was expecting rigging but much massive..??I can't express my feelings right now...

Alas
naked aggression shameless actions like these have made the whole process a farce. I was never expecting PTI to come on top but the way Nawaz league has panicked and resorted to thuggish behaviour is very disappointing there are many other words but I will refrain from them.

do you remember how much against I was against Imran Khan? I took my time since I have been on this forum and made an informed choice that this guy is genuine or such a master of deception that no one can nail him.

I would expect PTI Leadership to reach up to the people and thank them for their support remember that those votes are not wasted where PTI bagged tens of thousands of votes almost 50K or more and only lost by smaller margins. they are your future investment.

get off the streets because the nawaz league thugs are seasoned hooligans they wont spare weak or women or children , police is useless , the election commission is spineless and judiciary ... well judiciary is already hired and sold out to nawz league, its entire energy is being used on getting Musharraf hanged.
but for all its worth do submit petitions and complaints and work on KPK because Molana Diesel is already on the drive to buy people to make a government. Nawaz league is using him as a front man but am sure they will open up the coffers to buy members of all parties.

PTI hasnt decided on anything, the protests are third tier leadership, but were started off by supporters by themselves as they saw injustice done with their mandate, I can assure you, had it been free and fair elections 2/3 of Lahroe seats would have gone to PTI... how is that everyone I come across from our blue colour people to middle class, everyone voted Balla, yet Nawaz won???

I dont agree that we should pull off from streets, this is our right to protest against injustice and see if something is done about it... do as much as possible... so that those who discredited us from our rights should know that we are aware of their harram-zadgi...

on the other hand PTI should prepare the white paper and disclose it to media and ECP..

and above all try to form government in KPK, they deserve it the most, a Naya KPK !!

Just give yourself time to calm down a little bit. A lot can happen in five years till the next election and who knows what will happen then.

I am never gonna vote again...never..:cray:

this is not how it ends, this is how it has begun !!

this is the war for Pakistan, and its worth fighting for !!

remember by the next 5 years, every 13 years or so kid would be ready to vote and you know who they will vote, but our job would be to safeguard elections from rigging !!

Declared bankrupt in 2015, Pakistan is broken in 4 provincial pieces by coordination of PMLN / Saudi / US .

We never get 5 years from Nawaz. This time he has been chosen to break us.
