Pakistan requests aircraft spares from USA

Pakistan has requested a Foreign Military Sales deal to acquire spare parts for a number of its air force types, including the Lockheed Martin C-130 transport, F-16 fighter and T-33 trainer, as well as the Cessna T-37 trainer.

A notice issued by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency on 12 May notified Congress of a possible $62 million sale, but made no mention as to when Pakistan made the request.

Relations between Islamabad and Washington have been strained following the US special forces raid that killed al-Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden in the Pakistani city of Abottabad on 2 May.

Earlier this year the Pakistani air force inducted 17 new F-16 Block 52+ fighters into 5 Sqn, part of an 18-aircraft deal signed in 2006. Pakistan's 34 F-16A/B Block 15 aircraft are also undergoing mid-life upgrades.

What is that a wrong time or are they looking to get last chunk of spares before they are finally open foes.

Or is it for public consumption for people to realize Pakistan is dependent on US?

american sell you liabilites instead of assets...and then they blackmail for generations in the name of spare parts and upgrades....never heard russia doing this to those it calls friends or China

That is probably the reason that nobody trusts US now ,everyone wants to go with other options (if available) while considering defence purchases . I think thats the time for China to actively market their defence products to affected (by US) countries

how can someone possibly trust america which is run by zionists in the form of Federal Reserve...considering the statement of Ben Gurion on Pakistan who was the undisputed father of all the zionists.....that evil man pin-pointed our potential in 1948...........60 years on we are armed with the most sophisticated nuclear weapons and state of the art delivery system

but ba***rds like or politician do, " to get aid so they can use it as their pocket money"

I think after sales service and supply of spares always part of the sales deals, and non conditional..If they want to stop spares they should take back their planes and refund the money..so that Pakistan can buy Chinese hardware from that money..
Actually PAF should ask for a refund if this time the cheeky Americans stop spare parts...Enough is enough..

Hi, the PAF and the Pakistan Armed Forces high command are a bunch of sellouts, and better described as hijras. They will do whatever for the right price.

They still have not learned their lesson from the 90s. Keep buying those F-16s and wasting more money on spares. They only last as long as the West keeps the pipeline open, or does not activate those kill switches in those fancy expensive planes.

Its good that at this early stage..The USA has made it clear that the so called "Backbone" of PAF the BlahBlah 52 F-16 are useless..
Now is the time PAF smells coffee..naswaar or whatever..and wakes up to see reality, and buy weapons from elsewhere or make it themselves..no matter how inferior they are.
