What's new

Pakistan should play negotiator's role rather than take part in Yemen war, says Imran

Its Army who has decided this right now Nawaz is in no position what they would do internally or externally its Army who has decided to go for it Nawaz is only in front to get abused

Some people on this forum really need to get their head checked. They really believe Pak military will help Saudi Arabia if Nawaz tells them too? The decision will be made by COAS and him only. Stop with the repeated Nawaz bashing. Really getting annoying now.
Army has to do what Nawaz say because he came with guarantee from US and KSA and Army is unable to deny any order from US and simple stop help saud and forget about cheap oil and other stuff no doubt KSA has helped us but we are not in condition to side with anyone we have a shia minority and sunni majority i will never like to see my land to meet fate like Syria and Iraq so say no to sectarian war @syedali73

Liberal idiots need to keep there mouth shut and I hope Shias in Pakistan remain quite for this time other wise they will loose most sympathy and now for the alliance even Turkey is part of it we can't stay out we have to send Air Force and may be 10000 Troops but we have to also put pressure on Iran to stop supporting Houthis and put pressure on Houthis to start talks and form National Government and help Yemen develop its Armed Forces which just like Yemeni population has majority Sunnis in it
Yes the best solution to the problem would be isolate iran from houthis and than start negotiations between houthis and sauidis ......and pakistan can play a role in it ...

Saudi gave Nawaz a $1.2 billion credit line. He is obligated.
And so we should become a gun for hire? Apparently money matters more than the lives of our jawans for some.

Stupid Imran once again failing to read geopolitics. This gimp wanted to negotiate with TTP. What is left to negotiate when they they have killed 50,000 of your people. Complete moron.

Your personal bias against one man is clouding your judgement where you cant even think rationally that interfering in another war when we are already in a state of war can lead to catastrophic disaster. 1.2 billion will not be worth the dime.

And same stupid Imran supported Army when they started biggest offensive against TTP. Don't be a complete moron.

Imran is right on the money. Don't become embroiled in this conflict!

We just need to keep out of this mess. That's the best we would be doing.

ISLAMABAD: Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Asif in the National Assembly elucidated Pakistan's role in the Yemen conflict, saying that no decision to participate has been taken and that Pakistan has only pledged to safeguard the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

He stressed on Pakistan's role as 'facilitator' to end the conflicts in the Muslim world.

"Instead of aggravating the situation by participating in it, Pakistan should do what it can to prevent it ─ for the alliance and unity of the Muslim world," the defence minister said. "Pakistan is ready to adopt whatever role is needed in order to facilitate the termination of conflicts in the Islamic world."

"We will not take part in any conflict that could result in differences in the Muslim world, causing fault-lines present in Pakistan to be disturbed, the aggravation of which will have to be borne by Pakistan," he asserted.

The defence minister's statement comes a day after Saudi Arabia said that Pakistan will join its operation against Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen, for a conflict that is rapidly escalating into a murky civil war. The minister's announcement today apparently rules out Pakistan's immediate participation in the Yemen conflict.

"We want this issue to be resolved in a common forum where the Muslim world or Arab League is involved," said the defence minister. "The need of the hour is alliance and solidarity, not division."

"Division on the basis of religion or sect is rising in Syria, Iraq and Yemen. Instead of conflagration or proliferation ... It should be contained," he added.

"I reiterate, this pledge is for the protection of KSA ... if the sovereignty or territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia is threatened then Pakistan will defend it."

He went on to say that no decision to take part in the Yemeni conflict has been made by the government.

"We offered to visit [KSA] so we can assess the situation. The Arab League took up this matter, hopefully they will be able to resolve the matter in a forum. They can also take it to the OIC. We will see what happens in a couple of days. if we have to visit, we will definitely go there."

Sanity has prevailed. Thank God.

What is sense in fighting others wars?

Did KSA sent its air force and troops in fighting Zarb-e-Azb. Where is Pak dignity?

There is a conflict going on in Yemen, some kind of civil war like situation, and saudi arabia just bombed one faction. It is expected that more countries will take part in the conflict.
