Philippine Warship in Standoff With China Vessels

The same day that Filipino navy chickened back, 20 Vietnam fishermen were caught by the same Filipino navy near their coast for being 'illegal fishing'. This is hilarious.

We found the island/shoal long before the formation of the Philipines as a nation and even long before their being taught to speak Spanish. And Filipino never claimed the spot in their 'constitution' in 1935 or the "Baselines Law" in 1961.

If it is Vietnam vs Philippines, then US might help them.

However, it is China vs Philippines, then hell no.

I was hoping to save that one for india :)

Our railgun will be first deployed for the navy, and later for the space.

Yes, there will be Vietnam vs Philippines, but is on a football stadium.
It will place matches in the coming days, in the Spratly Islands. Perhaps Vietnam will be the host, because we have stadiums there.

Actually, both the Chinese and Philippine side have mistakes

The mistakes of the Chinese was the fact that they're not the law in the UNCLOS, where it states that water 200 Nautical miles from the mainland is under the control of the country where it is near to. It is like going to another persons house and not follow or respect
the rules in the house. Another mistake of the Chinese was to overreact to the problem, since the water is in the EEZ of the Philippines,A Philippine soldier/army/guards has every right to arrest the Chinese, if the Chinese disagree, then they could at least tell their ambassador after proper legal actions have been taken. Third, this is somewhat a continuation of the second statement in which China is over reacting. The Philippines did send its biggest ship, but it doesn't mean that we are harassing the fishermen. If we used another ship, do you think it would make another difference?

After telling the mistakes of China, the Philippines, for me, also commuted mistakes. One is that why was the biggest ship used? Why can't they use other ships that would not look intimidating to the Chinese. Another mistake of the Philippines was that knowing the Chinese was already intimidated, they could have at least started to send smaller ships which could lower the tensions of both sides. At the start it was only 2 vs 1, now, I think its 3 vs 1 with the Hamilton Class cutter being withdrawn

I'm a Filipino and I understand that both sides don't want to look bad, I think this is normal since who the hell would want to look bad to other nations in this world? This could affect future diplomatic talks with different countries in the future. I really hope that this problem could be solved quickly so that there wouldn't be a series of other problems that could happen because of this.

China recognizes UNCLOS with a condition, however. We signed it with the understanding that our pre-signing claims would be respected. That is the problem we have now.

Here's the thing. You sent your biggest ship. That is sending a message and is intimidating. The problem is, that message is going to backfire because your biggest naval ship is about the size of our smallest and if we responded in kind, then it would escalate the conflict. An escalation would be greatly detrimental to the Philippines.

I have gone through UNCLOS data on the UN website, failed to see any clause addressing Chinese pre-signing claims.

Like i asked before, if you guys have source supporting your statement please share.

The claims are: 1.) Those islands are Chinese and 2.) Those islands generate a 200 km wide EEZ.

Clarification of China

China never know where to give up right?

This is logic of the children. The world will LOL at the chinese, who often are proud to have high IQ.
China cannot deny the UN's convention, which the chinese government has signed and chinese parliament has ratified.
China's claim does not have any legal basis and factual basis. It is also not recognized by any country in the world, from before and after China has signed UNCLOS.
The dashed line map in china's claim is vague, unfounded, no data, no basis.
And China just submitted the vague map to the UN in 2009.
Until today, no one knows the Chinese definition of "nine-dotted line" is what the hell. Even the Chinese did not agree with each other to define what damn is it...

From my understanding, hoping that this would be a positive rebuttal and not a negative one , you are saying that China was intimidated because of the ship that the Philippines sent. You sir, admittedly said that the BRP Gregorio Del Pilar is just a small ship if compared to the Chinese navy, then why be intimidated? Why can't you guys accept the fact that it is only a ship? And like what I said before, would sending smaller ships have different results? I mean, intimidation is not the only suspect of this, another was because of the fishermen saying that they were harassed. If the local authorities sent small boats and went on board the boats of the fishermen, I'm sure they would also say that they are being harassed due to the way they were treated by the local authorities.

It's typical argument of high IQ Chinese. haha, at least you admitted this truth, good boy. So China can't go to international arbitration as Philippine Gov requested. China will be lose.
