"The film will be refused classification for its provocative and one-sided portrayal of Muslims and the depictions of Hindus being persecuted in the on-going conflict in Kashmir,” said the authorities in response to queries from CNA.

“These representations have the potential to cause enmity between different communities, and disrupt social cohesion and religious harmony in our multiracial and multi-religious society.”

Under the film classification guidelines, “any material that is denigrating to racial or religious communities in Singapore” will be refused classification, they added.

Well Singapore is a society with a very high HDI. This propaganda movie like Gujarat files has no place there

Interesting. It was released in UAE but not in Singapore.

Looks like UAE is more Free and liberal than Singapore.

UAE is trying to change its image to that of a tourist friendly liberal country, while Singapore doesn't give a F about what the world thinks and still enforces canings and fines for not flushing. The large Indian worker population in the UAE probably also helps.

If Singapore had such strict rules and control, it would not have been scared about a film causing a riot in Singapore. There has never been any history of film inspiring riots in Singapore.

This could be more of a Chinese influence.

I have noticed Douban has refused to give any rating to "The Kashmir files".

Though individual comments give good rating.

I mean they focus on 800 Kashmiri Pandit families, of which half were evacuated by Indian PM under the pretext of taking on the militants.

Compare that with Jammu which was a muslim majority area. Now its reduced to a muslim minority area. I am not even talking about the massacres by Indian army in J&K since the 90s.
