PTI will contact all but PML-N: Imran Khan

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan ruled out the possibility of making an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), while speaking to the media in Lahore on Thursday.
Bashing the PML-N, Khan said that it was the N-league which had supported the current government and is a part of the system which it talks about changing.
“We will not join the PML-N… We will contact all other parties,” he said while adding that the PML-N is responsible for the government still being in power.
When the Supreme Court was going to take action against the government on the NRO issue, we called for elections, but Nawaz Sharif said that he wanted to save the system, Khan added.
“If the PML-N is serious about their stance, then why is it not resigning from the assemblies?” he questioned.
He added that the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) issue has shaken up the political situation of the country and the “political mafia is attacking the judiciary to cover up their theft”.
The party chief announced that his party will hold a central executive meeting on January 14 to gather the likeminded people who are willing to back the judiciary in case it is attacked. “The Supreme Court is the only institution which has kept our country safe, otherwise, the NRO beneficiaries would have sold off the country by now.”
“Nawaz had said to [President Asif Ali] Zardari that even if the PPP [Pakistan Peoples Party] leaves you, we will be standing with you.” But, he said, that his party is standing up to democracy and the Constitution of the country and “will not back any military takeover”.
He added that the only democratic solution to the problems of the country is free and fair elections. Around 45% of the electoral rolls in 2008 elections were fake, hence new electoral rolls should be made for fair elections to get out of the current mess, Khan said.
“The nation can see that the government is trying to become a martyr, but a martyr is one who dies for a noble cause… If they make a sacrifice for the sake of their bank accounts, then the whole nation will distribute sweets on the roads for their ‘martyrdom’,” the party chief said.
Commenting on the current government-military rift, Khan said that government should only listen to the Supreme Court as it has run out of time for an APC (All Parties Committee) meeting.

I think Imran Khan's political acumen has increased, with time and experience.

Looking at the political scenario, it's abundantly clear that out of the two major political parties, PPP is almost completely done-for as a political party, and PML-N is the only real challenge. They're desperate to become "political martyrs" and would be happy to get kicked out, so they get this excuse that they are the victims and weren't given a chance to help the people. If PPP finishes it's term and can't blame someone else for their failures, they're probably finished as a political force. Who would ever vote for Zardari again.

PML-N however, is only earning a bad name in Punjab, where people have experienced the joys of PML-N rule. Everything from utter incompetence on dengue, Chief Minister holding onto dozens of Ministries but being unable to do the work of dozens of Ministers resulting in terrible mismanagement, senior party ministers like Dhost M. Khosa repeatedly using their party position to get away with stealing cars other people had imported and driving them around for ten months despite courts repeatedly giving their verdict against him(link), and numerous other things like these. In Punjab, Nawaz Sharif has formed five governments already and things have only gone from bad to worse - no-one really expects that they would do anything different if given a sixth chance, they've been tried and they've failed far too many times.

The large turnout in Lahore for PTI signifies PML-N's unpopularity in Punjab, but in the other three provinces with PPP rule, people may prefer PML-N instead.

So, it's not hard to understand why PTI tries to expose PML-N in front of Pakistan, and why PML-N is squarely focusing PTI in it's attacks and only giving lip-service on their "go Zardari go" campaign.

Boycotting the largest Party in Opposition in these dire times(for Imran Khan)wouldn't be a very good decision, I'd say.

PML n have good chance to make correlation with PTI to survive in upcoming Elections when ever it will occur...

Nawaz Sharif has his chances, but he backstabbed IK, and others like JI etc are not considerable to take a stand against Nawaz.

but IK did, and managed to succeed, however, it is unwise to give a sweeping statement when your vice chairman has said that circumstances will decide...

he should either stick his party members to his position or change his !

four years nawaz sharif played we are giving jamhuryat a chance card and then suddenly when imran khan jalsa happens we see banners go zardari go everywhere open insulting present government where was this three years ago when people were looking for a leader to come out strike and riot then no pmln had they done something had they boycotted elections made strikes and riots with the people they would have been very very strong but no heck they didnt even leave the assemblies as a sign of protest it would have brought some effect but no well you reap what you sow my friend better luck next time and next time if they want support then build and construct cities other then lahore it will bring you popularity to whole new level

Imran Khan is being used by the army to split the PML-N vote in punjab........the army and the west dont want NS in power.

Firstly, Nawaz Sharif has 90 seats in NA. You CANNOT compare 90 seats in NA with some JALSA. As for Friendly Opposition, yes, PML-N may have been a little polite in the beginning, but that was only to test PPP, 3 years was a fair timeline by PML-N. It's National Affairs we're talking about after all, and not some household affairs. Yes, PTI may have damaged PML-N to some extent with someone's help everyone knows about, but I believe that damage is negligible as of now.

They surely can, But only If they get go-ahead from their makers.

Not. Sure. If. Serious.

Are you being Serious ?........you would rather have a novice who has not served in any postion in govt ever as the PM rather then a tried and tested leader like NS?
