NEW DELHI: Radical Hindu groups on Friday demanded the cancellation of the first Pakistan cricket tour to India in five years and threatened to hold protests against the visiting side.

Pakistan will play five matches in India starting on December 25 in Bangalore, reviving cross-border cricket ties that were broken after the 2008 terror attacks in Mumbai by Pakistani militants.

The influential Vishwa Hindu Parishad (World Hindu Council) said India should refuse to host the tour until arch-rival Pakistan brought to justice the masterminds behind the Mumbai attacks that left 166 people dead.

"Why should we have sporting links with a country which is directing terrorism against us," VHP spokesman Prakash Sharma told. "Pakistan is not even willing to accept evidence provided by India of its role."

Pakistan in 2009 charged seven men over planning the Mumbai attacks, but insists it needs to gather more evidence in India before proceeding further.

Sharma declined to give details of any proposed protests, but security will be high for the games in Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and New Delhi.

Shiv Sena, a right-wing nationalist party based in Mumbai, on Thursday branded the tour a "national shame" and said Indian cricket authorities were "betraying the country for sake of money".

India and Pakistan have fought three wars since independence in 1947, but their shared love of cricket will ensure huge interest on both sides of the border during the tour.

The cricket teams have met only in international tournaments since 2007.

India beat Pakistan in the 50-over World Cup semi-final in the northern Indian town of Mohali last year, a match that was attended by both countries' prime ministers.

In 1999 protesters from Shiv Sena dug up the pitch in Delhi's Ferozeshah Kotla stadium to protest against a tour by Pakistan, though the game was unaffected.

What's new. Same old repeated words from Shiv Sena.

Yep this is nothing new Shiv Sena always said Pakistan is not welcome in Mumbai

the best they can do is dig up pitches and stuff and that shows their immaturity

cmon they were threatening the semi final too but nothing happened if this series happens these clowns at best will talk bad at internet or make statements or you know the above mentioned stuff

Why don't hindus object to the MFN aid and transit aid, Pakistanis give them?

I have never heard any Hindu objecting to hindu sellers, politicians, actors, activists, workers, coming to Pakistan almost on daily basis!

You missed the massive protests by Hindus against Pakistani aid? Dude, which universe do you live in normally, this one? You really should get out more and visit the other universes where the aid is given.

These Hindu Fundamentalist parties do a great damage to the image and reputation of our Indian friends. Pakistan should show their friendship to India by taking these groups out.

Fundamentalist Groups are bad on both sides of the border but i am afraid they have much higher following in Pakistan (I think the number is growing in India as well..)- We really need to get a grip on these groups (Both Pakistanis and Indians)..Secularism is the way to go.

Is this not Indian news reporting?

First time, Pakistan opens Karachi port to let India - Indian Express

asnd this news is about increase in aid and is very fresh:

Trade liberalisation: Pakistan to allow import of Indian agricultural goods – The Express Tribune

and obviously no objection to this grant:

Pakistan grants India most favoured nation status | World news | guardian.co.uk

Pak grants MFN status to India

and how about direct money being poured into the mouths of poor.

India allows FDI from Pakistan, seeks MFN status

Do you need more aid or aid news?

the same shiv sena and MNS protest against the hindu UP and bihari ppl too..... but life moves on .... DO NOT TRY TO CREATE A HAVOC ABOUT SMALL NEWS AND COMPARE IT WITH FUNDAMENTALISM ON YOUR SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

Its funny how Shiv Sena makes all these statements in front of press but never in front of a rally. If they make these statements in front of common crowd, half of them will just walk out, now wanting to have anything to do with this guy. Half of the remaining half would throw tomatoes and slippers at him while the rest would just remain there for the entertainment purpose. Very few will agree with them and even fewer will ever join their purpose.
People like Bal Thakrey and other Thakrey do not dare travel outside Maharastra. If he visits UP or Bihar his face would be painted black and he would be made to travel around the villages on a donkey. (not literally but you should get an idea)

I thought Indians were secular. :cheesy:
The same way some people in an Islamic Pakistan talk about a secular Pakistan, some people in a Secular India talk about... wait.. I do not think anything said by any party was against muslims. Their comments were against Pakistan.(not justifying just pointing out)
