I was just wondering if someone came up with an idea OR if any country proposed to connect Middle East with South Asia. A bridge can be made with a joint venture of many countries like Pakistan,Iran,Oman,UAE,Saudia as it can benefit all of them to open road & rail routes for trading purposes.
As at a point in Iran 550 km from Gawader a bridge can be built to a point which is the area of Oman. The bridge length would be only about 80 KM ..which is not a lot comparing to the under construction bridge in China of 164 KM which will be completed by 2013.
It can be good for Pakistan exports as well through Iran to all the Middle East. take a look at the picture.
would like some discussion on it ???

The regular railway service from Pakistan to Turkey via Iran will start next year, the trial train service from Pakistan to Turkey via Iran was already successful. Pakistan and China are now working on a railway connecting Pakistan to China and Pakistan to Afghanistan, also there is plans for all Central Asian countries, Pakistan, Iran, and Turkey to be all connected to one another through railway.

Yes thanks for reply...but what about link to middle east ?? Since entering middle east through turkey would not be economical ?

Ramiz good idea but the problem is UAE and Iran hate each other. Iranian look done upon us so much that they are building a wall at our border. So even if they make a bridge, Iranian will never let us use that.

The Bridge idea is good. But its height above sea level should be higher than the ships passing below.

As the Gulf states are starting corporate farming in Pakistan, therefore, they can send their agri-products by road as well if the bridge is built.

On the other hand, since Iran's oil refining capability is very limited as against its domestic needs, Pakistan can set up a refinery with UAE help in Gwadar and sell petrol and diesel to Iran and also use it inside Pakistan.

When there are economic inter-dependencies then the regional rivalries vanish. I think the rivalry between UAE states and Iran would decrease once the trade starts.

According to Ralph Peters proposed redrawing of Middle East boundries published in the U.S Armed Forces Journal,

"The Shia south of old Iraq would form the basis of an Arab Shia State rimming much of the Persian Gulf"

Blood borders - June 2006 - Armed Forces Journal - Military Strategy, Global Defense Strategy

As the Shias are in government in Iraq, so, in the next stage they may increase their political influence in UAE. There is a significant Shia population there as well as in Saudi Arabia's oil producing areas.

Iran is part of the Middle East. Pakistan will be entering Turkey through Iran.

If you mean the Gulf countries, like UAE and Oman, Pakistan is not that far from those countries by sea.

Yep u rite...but in case of this bridge would the trade & travel to UAE & suuroundings still be economical through SEA ?? or trade through rail or road would be better off.??
& what about 100 of thousand of labor from Pakistan working is middle east ?? through bridge it would be way cheaper for them since those people seek cheapest traveling..most people like them from punjab go to Karachi & then take plane for cheapest.
Pakistan selling farms to UAE & others is a really bad idea..It would eat our farmers rights & profits.

The bridge only needed to be high from some space for cargo ship since they don't pass around randomly they usually have & very limited space to go through in case of shortened land spot example of this spot of bridge or same as Suez canal/

In USA & Canada there are trade routes goes on rail & road of even 2500 to 3500 KM ..so why cant we go on just 1500-2000 KMS???

Yes & bridge can be used to build crude oil pipelines from UAE to Gwader for refinery which saves a lot of money..& also then sell that refined oil to China ??WOW
