forget north india,take other south indians states who support this LTTE action,i come from andhra pradesh there isn't single news on LTTE,expect that they are some terrorist organisation who killed rajiv gandhi,i dunno about this tamil elam rant on internet i have studied in chennai there was absolute no sympathy towards LTTE expect few politicians and film stars,it only started after war on LTTE by that time i left chennai so can't say now

The Madras High Court has deferred by eight weeks the hanging of the three convicts in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. The decision came even as the Tamil Nadu Assembly appealed to President Pratibha Patil to reconsider the mercy plea of the convicts.

Murugan alias ‘V Sriharan’, TS Suthendraraja alias ‘Chinna’ Santhan and AG Perarivalan alias ‘Arivu’ were to be put to death on September 9. They had challenged the 11-year delay in rejecting their mercy pleas.

The Bench admitted the petition observing that, since a delay of over 11 years had been caused in the disposal of the mercy petitions, it was now a question of law.

Arguing on behalf of Perarivalan, senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani said, “It takes just 30 seconds to take a man from his cell and pronounce him dead. Imagine an 11-year wait.”

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Assembly adopted a unanimous resolution asking the President to reconsider mercy petitions of three convicts. The resolution, moved by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa appealed to the President to commute the death sentences of Murugan, Santhan and Perarivalan into life sentences.

The Chief Minister said, “Many political parties have appealed to me to commute death sentences and respecting the sentiments of the people of the State, I appeal to the members of the House to pass the resolution unanimously.”

No other South Indian state supports the LTTE. And no other South Indian state has as much ethnic nationalism and extremism as does Tamil Nadu.

It's funny how Tamil Nadu passes a resolution seeking sanctions against Sri Lanka and now passes a resolution seeking clemency for the assassins of Rajiv Gandhi. It's not justice they are interested in, just protecting parochial "Tamil pride" in front of the rest of India -- support a murderer if he/she happens to be Tamil.

There is no use it talking to a Sri Lankan Sinhala in this issue.
If the three had to die by hanging, its a sacrifice they make to the cause which mattered more than their life.
They will be remembered as heros, not the cowards(SL Army) who shelled hospitals/Schools during the war

and the other fact is that North India, gives a **** about TAMIL NADU and her interest, but are interested to reap the benefits that are economically achived in TN and spend the money got out of TN to North India's cause.

J&K CM slams double standards on death penalty

SRINAGAR: "If J and K assembly had passed a resolution similar to the Tamil Nadu one for Afzal Guru, would the reaction have been as muted? I think not," chief minister Omar Abdullah said on Wednesday.

Reacting to the Tamil Nadu assembly resolution's on former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's killers, Omar Abdullah moaned that the sentiments of the people in Kashmir were unfairly treated outside the state.

In the Kashmir Valley, the death sentence awarded to Afzal Guru for the 2001 Parliament attack has been a sensitive one.

The state government apprehends widespread unrest if he is hanged.

The home ministry has sent the file on Guru's mercy petition to President Pratibha Patil.

Omar Abdullah does not favour death penalty for any convict, and he would not like someone whose hanging could derail peace in the state to be executed.

The September 9 hanging of the three men sentenced to death for conspiring to assassinate Rajiv Gandhi was stayed for eight weeks by the Madras high court on Tuesday.

The Tamil Nadu assembly also passed a resolution asking the President to review their mercy petitions.

Slamming the Jammu and Kashmir chief minister's remarks, BJP said that the Omar Abdullah's reaction was "shocking and unfortunate".

Senior BJP leader Balbir Punj said, "This is wrong. BJP's stand has always been clear. Omar Abdullah is only aggravating the situation. If there was a wrong precedence from the Tamil Nadu government, it does not mean the other governments should also react in a similar manner."

As its always mentioned on the LTTE end, that was a unfortunate event, The LTTE never want to assasinate Rajiv in TN, but due to security risks at other places it has to take place in TN, and if the only photo that captured "Sivarasan & team of the LTTE" did not get in the hands of the inteligence the assasination would have never been traced back to the LTTE.

Any way thats all past.
To the topic, as the assasins have already completed life sentence, the president should seek for a report on the conduct of the assasins in Jail and take a decession based on the report.
If Yasin Malik, after killing 4 army personal can rome free in this country, these people should atleast deserve clemency
