Hi!
Does Russia still have capabilities to become Super Power again?
Thank you!

No, because they can't avoid the demographic divident of population. Their population is collapsing, and now its too late to fix it. To build a super power millitary for force projection u need a superpower economy for that u need a huge population. That is the reason why most analysts predict india and china will be the biggest economies of this century.

i think its very difficult bcoz russian economy is not in a superpowers position and also dont have reliable allies

Alright!

But how come they still have so much advancement and have planned some of the Megaprojects till 2030?

Wrong, Russian Population is not declining anymore.

Huge population doesn't make a country a superpower, technology does.

I agree, technology is an imp thing for being a superpower. By that logic japan is today one the most technologically developed country in the world, it was once at a stage to take over as the worlds biggest economy. What went wrong??? They were hit by the same problems as russia, that is the population.

Technology + population is what makes a country a superpower. U need an economy, a massive buying and spending power to fullfill your superpower dreams.

I am happy that russia is growing now, I am happy for russian power. But my frnd sorry to say, most achievements of russia came during the cold war and Russia wont see that time and dominance ever again. It will be big and important but not a superpower, just like todays japan.

Every country has planned projects for 2030. Russian economy right now is growing, but they will not reach upto the size like before.

Sorry cant agree with u on highlighted part. Take example of Japan their population is less than India and Russia but they are very advance than both India and Russia and also in term of economy Japan is on No 3 , so population is not a good factor means they have less mouths to feed and more amount to spend on other things .

loll great understanding of economics you got there. The reason is that japan is fully developed economy and india russia and china re still developing.
kk lemme expain it to u. Japan's current per capita is over 40000, which is at par with the west. but russia, india and china are way behind. By that logic Japan should be a superpower. But they are not. Japans current population is shrinking and their economy is contracting at the rate of -0.2%.

If 25 yrs from now lets say india, china are fully developed and have same per capita as japan, then their economy has to be 10 times the economy of japan and 5 times the usa. This will give them much much more money to spend on defence and superpower ambitions. The more people you have the more money you can generate and more u can waste on being a super power.

This is the reason why Iran wants its people to produce more kids. so that they can avoid population collapse.

At the end of the day, it is technology and the country with most young people that will rule the world. Aging countries like japan and russia have no chance of achieving superpower glory.

you cannot be a super power if you solely depend on your resources, you need to exploit other countries and their resoruces, like US did so well in last 50 years. A saturaton time comes when a country cannot grow anymore, and then they need to reply of the population of other countries, same as US is planning now for India but Indian are smarter than they think and wont get in this trap

yes ur right here. At some point u need to use resources and population of other countries. Thankfully indians are proactive in that field. America wants to use india but we r not interested in declining america. Indian thinkers and planners have a different opinion. They know well where the next cycle of growth will come:

These are just a few examples. both asian giants are expanding in every field. Power projection has began, superpower status will come with time. Just keep working hard.

Russia is definetly not super power, but if any country wants to be super power then it definetly requires Russias.. except U.S.A..
China and India need Russia to increase their region of influence..
Still Russia has more allies than China and India, so Russia maintains its second position as superpower with number of allies, area of influence, technology development, UNSC seat and ofcourse too many weapons of destruction...

Chineas economy is heavely depends on defence and oil industry. Also cronic capitalism is cancer to russian economy as top 5 billioniars hold too much money.

china's economy is dependent on defence spending and oil? u mean russia right? so be so obsessed with china that u constantly think about it even in a thread about russia.

Russia can become a super power again if her budgets can cover her military expenditures for indefinite period, and has political wills and support from her people. Her population is a bit small but then, with a vibrant economy, it wouldn't be hard to draw immigrations from her former Union nations since they are all well versed in the Russian language.

So, again, it's all about money.
