General Hosh Muhammad Sheedi

General Hosh Muhammad Sheedi or Hoshu Sheedi was a Supreme Commander of Sindh’s Talpur army, who fought with valor against the British in the Battle of Dabbo and laid down his life in defense of his country (1843).
Hoshu belonged to the African-descent Sheedi community of Sindh Pakistan. Before his death in the Battleground of Dubbo he called out the slogan in which was originally coined by Talpur in the Battle of Miani:

Marsoon Marsoon,Sindhna Daisun
(“We will die but won’t give Sindh [to others]“)

He died in 1843, and was buried in Dubee near Tando Jam Road, Hyderabad Pakistan. He is considered a Sindhi hero.

The mausoleum of Hosh Mohammed Sheedi, popularly known as Hosho Sheedi, who died in a war against the British invasion on March 24, 1843, is in shambles as the waste material and garbage from the nearby village are being dumped at the site. The historical shrine is situated at Dubee, a small village situated some 10 kilometers from the Hyderabad city.

It was built many years back to pay tribute to the war martyrs and was declared a heritage site. But this old tomb is being destroyed as there is no proper system of disposing waste and garbage. However, the Sheedi community members had built concrete walls around Hosho Sheedi’s grave to protect it from further damage.

Many people must have wondered this particular clause from history classes "sindh should be seperated from bombay presidency" but never thought how it came under bombay control.
Passage from book Chronicles of the world by longman:
"Rough Justice for annexed sind ,
Karachi,1843
Sind has joined british India. It has become a province .In February an agreement forced on the sind leaders resulted in the british residency at hyderabad being attacked.Anxious to impose his will, the british commander ,Sir Hugh Gough, marched straight into sind with 3000 men and with will and firepower defeated a sind army of 20,000 at Miani.Six emirs were captured .Only one,Sher Mohammad ,held out until he was defeated in one of Gough's blind and furious battles.
Inspite of cabinet disapproval of extensions of empire ,Sind has been annexed.Amongst those most resentful are the sepoys(soldiers) ,who fear that all india will soon be British .Some,no longer entitled to overseas allowances for being in Sind ,are refusing service there"

In my childhood i heard stories about hosho sheedi and the slogan maarso maarso sind na deso that during battle of dabbo the childhood friend of Hosho and the one of the son of amir betrayed him..

Thank you for bringing this to the fore. Now I want to ask a serious question. Why did Gen. Hosho Sheedi die for?

He was fighting in 1843 to stop Sindh being attached to Mother India-British.

Those who cry about the detaching of Sindh in 1947 from British India should celebrate 1943 and look at Gen.Hosho Sheedi as a traitor.

Those who regard British India as a terrible construct that was a huge open air prison in South Asia built by outside colonial power would regard Gen.Hosho Sheedi a hero.

I believe Gen.Hosho Sheedi was a hero because there was no such as "India" and he fought and died to stop being joined to it.

Keeping this fact in mind the so called "partition" in 1947 was the most natural undoing of that ghastly enslavement in 1843 that Gen.Hosho Sheedi died trying to prevent.

We did what Gen.Hosho Sheedi died for in 1947 by breaking away from the slave ship built by his oppressors the British.
