bahi .... before the reorganization of new political units it is imperative to consider their economic viability and to how much those new entities would contribute to the national economy otherwise administrative Expenditure of new provinces could increase manifolds.

No provinces at all. Definitely not any based on linguistic and ethnicity. We should have comprehensive devolution, split between districts and Metropolitan areas. Give power all the way down to Councillor level. It is not the business of a member of parliament to be fixing roads. That should be the responsibility of your local Councillor who you can go and grab if the road is full of potholes.

But unfortunately, many in our political/bureaucratic/military establishment are control freaks so will never allow this.

Seeing how the provincial governments only focus on developing their capitals and not their other cities (Looking at you Punjab). Should Pakistan divide its current 4 to 9 or 10 so that more cities get developed and Pakistan can develop more evenly ? Or will such a division of provinces not help with the current disparity?

we don't need more provinces we need you people to stop supporting the thieves that are looting this country. same illiterate idiots will run smaller provinces as bigger ones. you know the ones with fake degrees, big bellies and moustaches. and its entirely our fault for voting for them instead of shooting them

1.Baluchistan+1
3. Sindh+1
5. Punjab+1
7. KPK
8. GB
9. FATA
10. AJK
11. Hazara

There should be around 50 provinces made up mainly out of existing "Divisions", while some divisions should be merged to form provinces. Provinces shouldn't be huge, their capitals should be accessible for the residents with 1-2 hr drive. Districts should be made smaller as well. We need to prioritize population density and how good governance, civil services would be provided.

Only Punjab have good governance relatively speaking despite being biggest province in terms of population. Punjab is also only province where elected members from all the way down to Rajanpur and up from Attock can speak in their native tongue with each other. After 18th amendment its imperative for provinces to treat their people equally because Islamabad have given up most departments and revenue apart from defence and few other departments.

This leave us with other 3 provinces with bad governance and demand for separate provinces based on identities.

1. Sindh, PPP/Bhutto instead of owning Karachi made unnecessary quota based division which gave birth to MQM. Even though Karachi now generate 90% of provincial taxes which isn't all spent on Karachi but all over Sindh. 95% of industry units in Sindh are located in Karachi. Sindh also get huge amount of NFC share because of Karachi population. If you can't own your province people then let them become separate province.

2. KP, not much demand before renaming of province and ANP anti-hindko politics. Under PTI governance is relatively good compared to past but ANP can come back in 2018. Hazarawals also say dam royalties from Tarbela etc are not spent on Hazara division.

3. Balochistan: Azhakzai from time to time demand separate pashtun province. Baloch are not against it but Achakzai isn't serious about separate province.

Do you guys know Zaradari-Nawaz 18th amendment is curse and root of all evil. Need to reverse soon as possible. This devolution of power bring more misery for the people of all 4 provinces.

People of Pakistan Answer = Yes,
Politician and Establishment Answer = No.

It doesn't matter what is good for Pakistan, only thing which matters is what is good for corrupt people who rules in Pakistan.

The only reason why Nawaz Sharif is in power is because of Punjab. More than 55% of Pakistan's population is living in Punjab. During elections, 59 million of the 86 million voters were from Punjab. So naturally the person who controls Punjab controls Pakistan. This is why since decades there has been more development in Punjab. This Monopoly must stop otherwise there shall be more countries in South Asia then...

I am a Punjabi myself. I have voted yes because loyalty towards the State is much more important than provincial and ethnical loyalty...If there was no CPEC then Baluchistan would have remained pretty much the same.

For example, Sui Gas was discovered in Baluchistan in 1952. By 1955, the entire country had Natural Gas. The alarming thing is that most areas in Baluchistan still don't have access to Sui Gas. It is unimaginable to think that the province in which the Gas is extracted cant consume the Gas. Even the people of Sui do not have the benefit of consuming this Gas.

No wonder our enemies can easily divide us like they did in the 1970s. We should wake up otherwise Pakistan will become smaller...Already there are parties in Baluchistan and KPK who are trying to divide the nation...

No, because it is a needless hassle and probably not as effective. Shifting the responsibilities and tax/revenue collection for local development to local/district governments would make the matter of number of provinces useless while allowing the public, greater access to the effective authority i.e the local government. It would also remove the blame game and excuses that local authorities give for their helplessness due to inattention by progressively superior bodies, which quickly become inaccessible to people; in turn allowing the public to be irresponsible and lack a sense of ownership of their region. This would also make the elected officials much more dependent on their constituency and also provide the flexibility for local governments to adapt/change taxes as per their own specific circumstances. It gives the credit or blame of development in each place, less dependent on federal or provincial governments; which would only play a minor and secondary role.

This, along with restricting the parliament to primarily a legislative role, instead of government formation, and having somewhat direct election chief executive for federal, provincial and local governments would all but eliminate the effect of provincial monopoly in government formation. It would also make membership of assemblies less lucrative for the uninterested and reduce the 'cultness' of political parties, making the overall situation much more democratic, effective and flexible.

This is very extreem bad idea. Pak mein bohat corruption hai. Intihayi corruption!

In Afg they have something like 1,000 generals, and all are unqualified and just are the corrupt people who do chori from govurment. In Pak we have corrupt politician every place. Now if you make more province this mean more corrupt politician. We then have 1,000 corrupt politician? Such stupid idea I never hear of before in my life. Very stupid idea.

Too early to even think about it we need to get rid off terrorism and corruption first then maybe in 20 years we slowly go for it.
Talking about provinces will complicate things.
