Tencent's Honor of Kings remained the world's most profitable mobile game in November after that position was upended last month by newcomer local competitor Genshin Impact, produced by Chinese game developer miHoYo.

Honor of Kings earned $230 million in global App Store and Google Play revenue in November 2020, up 62.5 percent from November last year, topping the global handheld bestseller list, according to data released today by market research firm Sensor Tower.

Honor of Kings revenue from the Chinese App Store accounted for 96.4%, with the Thai version contributing 1%, Sensor Tower said.



Genshin Impact earned $239 million in revenue from the global App Store and Google Play in October 2020, topping the global handheld bestseller list. Revenue from the Chinese App Store accounted for 31 percent, while the Japanese and U.S. markets contributed 24.5 percent and 19 percent, respectively, according to data released by Sensor Tower last month.

Tencent's PUBG Mobile ranked second on the list with estimated revenue of more than $173 million in November, up 3.8% from the same month last year.

The other three games in the top five were Genshin Impact, Moon Active's Coin Master, and Niantic Pokémon GO.


Genshin Impact generated an estimated $143 million in global App Store and Google Play revenue in November.

Japan was the highest-grossing market for the game, contributing $38 million, or 26.6%. Chinese iOS players contributed $36.3 million, or 25.4 percent.

Google Play contributed $65 million to Genshin Impact, accounting for 60.7% of overseas mobile revenue.

Genshin Impact earned more than $105 million in overseas App Store and Google Play revenue in November, continuing to be the highest-grossing Chinese mobile game overseas, according to data released on December 9 by Sensor Tower.



The three overseas markets that contributed the most revenue to Genshin Impact were Japan, the US and South Korea, accounting for 35.6 percent, 27 percent and 8.8 percent respectively.

The new version of Genshin Impact was released on December 1, and it generated more than $11 million in revenue in overseas markets that day, breaking the one-day revenue record for Chinese mobile games overseas.


In the Apple App Store's global mobile game revenue chart in November, as many as eight products from Chinese manufacturers, with only "Roblox" and "Pokémon GO" coming from publishers in other countries, highlighting the growing influence of Chinese manufacturers in the global mobile game market, Sensor Tower said.
