The Price Of India's UN Vote On Ukraine Will Be Paid In Washington

Have said it many times before; the western/US reliance on India as a counterweight to China is a major strategic mistake.

US policy makers has done some serious mistakes the past 25 years. Of course hindsight is the most accurate science but still one would expect highly educated policy makers to atleast be able to predict and hedge on the future to a certain extent.

If America wanted to stay as the sole Superpower, it only had to do 2 things;

- Implement a deeper cooperation with Islamic world
- Keep Russia feel secure and prevent it from becoming a western foe and a chinese ally.

The west failed to do both.
Why? Because USA was arrogant and has a strong Israel lobby, and it has a irrational hatred/fear for Russian, even though Russia was not a threat.

Your wisdom amazes me. Indeed, as you said, China's weakness lies in energy security. If USA can dissolve NATO and reach a comprehensive reconciliation with Russia, if USA can abandon Israel and reach a comprehensive reconciliation with the Islamic world. China is bound to have big trouble.

US preparing India for China  Hey dumb a$$ Americans , You can make a race donkey out of a donkey, but not a race horse.

I think in the last 20 years, only India has come forward and volunteered as a counter-weight to the China.

No one else in Asia seriously dreams about becoming a Supa Powa and wishes to surpass the US and China. You will only hear Indians saying this, preaching this and dreaming about this. Therefore, the US and the West has no other choice but to throw a carrot to the Indians.

On the other hand, since India dreams about becoming a Supa Powa and dominating Asia if not the entire world, it is also seen a future threat to Western World. It is for this reason the US and the Western World has propped India against China the way they have. End goal is to make both countries outdo each other in destroying each other. This way, there'll be no more challenges from Asia.

Both China and Russia have tried to explain this to India but Indians ao far only see the American carrots.

US has extensive relationships with Turkey, GCC, Egypt, Morocco. It has working relationships with Malaysia, Bangladesh, Indonesia

USA has tried to reset relationship with Russia. We cannot fix the political dysfunction in Russian society

What has China done for India ?

When people complain about USA lack of good relationship with Islamic world they are whining about Pakistan-America relationship

Save Iran and Syria USA enjoys good relationships with most of Islamic world. Look through list of countries in the ICO

In general, US only enjoys good relations with those Muslim countries where there aren't representative governments. A case in point is that each time we have a military government in Pakistan, there is alignment with the US. As soon as the Pakistani street "elects" a representative government, that engagement breaks. Aside from Luke-warm ties with Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran have all been on the receiving end despite having strong, democratic credentials.

The ones that consistently get supported by the US are the ones where despots rule the roost and can get "business" done with the US admin.

Look around the globe and you will see that case being repeated. At home, it is the "home of the free", overseas its dealing with dictators and kings and autocrats.

I write this not as one who is anti-American, (actually I am not anti-any country), but as someone who actually wants to see Pakistan maintain meaningful and productive ties with the US along with our other friends. But for as long as Pakistan has "representative" government, I don't see the US engaging.

Look at the countries we have trouble with - China, North Korea, Russia, Iran, Syria, Libya, Saddam's Iraq, Cuba
They are even more undemocratic

As far as Pakistan goes the military generals are around anytime the aid spigot is on and when the aid spigot dries up they hand off power to the politicians

With about 80% of Indian military hardware being of Russian origin, India's choice in this Ukrainian matter was made for it long before the conflict broke :undecided:
You think the arrogant western care? They just want India to follow western but without taking into your consideration.

Indian diplomats would have discussed all this with US and EU counterparts. The western countries will learn to live with it because India does not have any room to maneuver.

Absolutely nonsense, there is no room for negotiation. India is not equal to EU , Australia or Japan. US do not see India on level with them but a step lower. Still, they want India to obey to US command. :enjoy:

You shall wait and see, the sanction of India will come sooner if India insist on continue trade with Russia.

Not every discussion is a negotiation. I expect that India would have just tried to explain its vote - as politely as possible. India will likely not trade much with Russia - not worth taking American sanctions considering the miniscule trade between the two countries. :coffee:
