Bit surprised to see India in this list. Was expecting few more countries from oil cartel..

India's foreign reserves as of 25 May 2018 is $415.05 billion

Our exports should grow faster to reach one trillion dollars reserve. Maybe a decade away to reach that goal.

There is some good news on the exports side

India’s exports are expected to record a growth of about 15-20 per cent and touch USD 350 billion in the current fiscal on account of a host of factors including rise in commodity prices, exporters body FIEO said on Tuesday.

why would small countries park useless money in foreign reserves
qatar and norway have world largets investment fund at 1 trillion dollars

foreign reserves are simply needed for 3-4 months to cover any fluctuation /imports that it

Always ready to pounce on India. Ok, you guys are the undisputed kings. Happy!
pounce on India?
The guy above said india with $415.05 billion
yet Hongkong with $437.00 billion
Everyone telling the truth is pouncing on India?!!

If you are powerful, you are strong no matter what others say.
If you are weak, no matter what you say, you are weak.

In fairness, I also hope that ordinary people in India can have a better life.

However, your Indians take an attitude hostile to China. This attitude is not helpful to your economic development. If you are a rational Indian and if you have been to China, you know that the Chinese are not hostile to Indians, although we persist in southern Tibet belongs to China and it is not negotiable.
Ps: Russia is even worse!

You are right, foreign reserves is mainly for liquidity concerns and reduce volatility risk. Overly large foreign reserves might not be useful. Small oil & gas producing nations like Qatar and Norway have quite sizeable investment funds. They would be able to maintain quite a stable government revenue absent of domestic production, that is if they can securely access capital markets.

Hostile Chinese posters are dime a dozen here. To be honest it comes from both sides. Being bigger and more powerful nation I expect you guys tone down your hostile attitude here because it only creates a vile atmosphere here. No productive discussion comes out of it.

Southern Tibet is also not negotiable for us. So you see we have to have dialogues to resolve this not take hostile attitude towards it. Your Chinese govt. is lot more practical towards resolving this stalemate other than occasional outburst when Dalai Lama comes to visit this area.
Dalai Lama and tibetan refugees have made India a permanent base. You guys should work to resolve this impasse and take back your countrymen. How long are you guys going keep this simmering?? Until Dalai Lama dies??

undisputed economic super power? was there any doubt to begin with?

You deserve all praise for your unprecedented achievements. Having said that I was just expecting you guys to tone down your achievements so our poor lot don't have to be embarrassed by your dazzling achievements. It has been a trend here

Indian posters putting down the BD and Pakistan

Pakistani posters and Chinese posters putting down India mostly.

It has become a vile atmosphere here and it hard to discuss anything.

Very high reserves are of no use as basically you are underwriting the lifestyles of americans and the likes by buying their government bonds.
