ISLAMABAD - The PML-N leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi is all set to join Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Reliable sources informed Online that all formalities have been duly fulfilled for a formal announcement within next few days. Makhdoom Javed Hashmi has been reported to be quite agitated over being constantly ignored/bypassed/sidetracked, and is known to have publicly criticided PML-N’s leadership in meetings.

Seeking no peace of mind, he has finally decided to resign from PML-N and join PTI. Sources have informed that he was constantly in touch with Imran Khan over the issue and Imran Khan eventually acquiesced to his (Makhdoom Javed) request.

Sixty-three years old leader of the PML-N Javed Hashmi is a key opposition leader in Pakistan, and one of the prominent leaders of the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) which campaigned against the Musharraf regime.

He started his career in politics during his university days from the platform of Islami Jamiat Tulaba (IJT), the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami. In the capacity of his practical politics, he has also served in Zia-ul-Haq‘s cabinet.

On April 12 2004, he was sentenced to 23 years in prison for inciting mutiny in the army, forgery and defamation, by circulating a letter written by military officers calling for an investigation into alleged corruption in the armed forces and criticising President Pervez Musharraf and his relationship with US President George W Bush.

If this news is true than it will be great blow to nawaz shareef and his party and his workers can go towards Imran Khan because Hashmi is really respected among low level workers and this can be final nail in the coffin on PML N and great win of PTI

Apart from the fact that his participation in PTI would benefit the party tremendously, increasing its profile by multi folds..... but what is more important that it could sever a trigger for a chain reaction and thus causing major split in the PMLN front lines..... His departure from the party can cause snow ball effect and many can follow .....depicting mistrust over the party leadership.....usually there are many members within the political parties who absolutely do not believe in their leadership both because of its policies as well as the persona of the leader but they don't dare a stand...thus forced to sit as silent spectators .....If some buddy of Javed hashami stature takes such stand... many will get the confidence to follow up!

For know I am not very sure about the authenticity of the news!

Not sure about this myself - Javed Hashmi is a nice person at heart and he has this sense of loyalty towards Nawaz Sharif's father which keeps him tied to the Sharifs, although he was the first big gun to recognize Imran Khan's stance during the Raymond Davis episode.

No other news agency reporting if so far, so I'd take this with a pinch of salt.

Dude if this news is true then this would be BEST thing that can happen to PTI. Javed Hashmi is very respected politician. He is one of those politicians who has the respect of everybody..including his opponents...Hope he joins PTI ...

One thing that is bugging me from couple of days is that all these BIG GUNS (Shah Mehmood, Kasuri , Tareen etc etc) will not settle for a tiny piece of cake.. ALL of them would want "important" positions or prominent positions..Like minister or being a part of 'Kabeena' etc ....How will Imran handle this situation? How will he bring new faces forward and give them prominent roles? :/

Don't think that Javed Hashmi would join PTI. After Shah Mehmood's joining of PTI the chances are even more difficult.

Personally for now i don't see that happening..the thing i like most about him is that he is not scared of expressing his views against decisions taken by his own party... and he is respected by all in his current party

Anukha.! Laaadlaaaaa..Khilan ko Mangay Chaaaaannndddd..!! LOL

On a serious note; I fully endorses "Areesh's" point of view..

Dont think so,In presence of Shah Mehmood Qureshi,Javed Hashmi will not try to join PTI.Javed Hashmi has been the real opposition in Musharraf times and now many of Musharraf's friends have joined PTI.

Javed Hashmi has more chance of winning from urban areas than from Shah Mehmood in Multan region. (he lost in 2008)

Javed Hashmi is respected politician whatever party he join will get more more attention , however PML (N) is ancestral party IMHO he should leave it , he cant serve the nation in that party.

Can we expect Musharraf- Shaukat Aziz to join PTI soon aswell?-
Seikh Rasheed is already with Imran Khan in an unofficial alliance-

PTI seems to be the future. I hope Imran Khan does not turn out to be another corrupt carrot as well.
