TTP fighters infiltrate into Chitral and attempt to seize villages/posts 6/9/23

Ha ha ha
We deal riots every month from such groups christians , muslims ,
Manipur is very small state of hardly 8 million people in which half are hindus, things are under control .
In your case Taliban are attacking Pakistan , save your country .

Just because India deals with riots every month, means you should cry about that rather than afghans who we can deal.with

Meanwhile... Just a day after TTP launched one of most fiercest attack.. Topic of discussion ..

These boomer generals are from a different era. They have completely lost touch with reality. LOL how can you silence people from voicing their opinions in this age of social media?

Save your country from Talibanis . They will rule you with sharia laws.

They won't. They can't even make it to the next village near the border. This attack is being blown out of proportion. I have seen pictures of scores of dead TTP footsoldiers. TTP is being mincemeated as we speak.

Without local support, getting close to target while armed, well versed in plan, rested and motivated is not easy.

Imagine it’s a one way trip, one last mission, no one would go in half hearted or tired or exhausted.

In this case, TTP said they will attack and they did so army was prepared and on alert. So is this an intel success ? Is this a successful defensive mission ? Does this show that heli QRF is effective ? Does SSG need to be called in every time everywhere ?

Pk mentioned drones and lots of dead TTP - bottom line, PA was prepared.

However consider this, how do you define success of a mission ? Lesser number killed than enemy ? Strategic goals met over long term ? Killing of a leader ? Not taking any damage ? Or just a successful mission which meets its aims ?

What if one lucky shot of RPG had killed 6 soldiers while only two terrorists would be killed and rest ran away ? After all, they didn’t capture any land neither destroyed an important installation like dam, air base, parliament etc.

What are the metrics of success ?
Don't overwork ur tiny brain the metric of success is you deal more kinetic damage and not lose ground.

In skirmishes there will always be casualties. You should do your best to minimise them.

@Jango

Regarding why Helicopters were there, I assume that it was being used as a staging area of some sorts, the football ground is in Drosh which is where Chitral Scouts HQ is located I think (Although it seems Chitral city seems to be?). The reason why they wouldn't be landing near the posts/hot zones is likely due to the lack of a safe landing zone due to the terrain and also because of the threat of enemy fire which ranges from small arms to possibly even AA (Dshka). It's also pertinent to note that Tehsil headquarters Hospital is there so it seems to be a good nearby place to ferry wounded to if need be. This is just speculation on my part.

Could be the case.

This could indicate that the need for reinforcements was not urgent, as in not right this minute.

The troops could be housed at the rear HQ or a unit HQ and then transported to a forward location throughout the day.

Surely we can intercept these comms?

Establishment backed terrorist are here, so they take attention away from Pakistanis..

THE question is why only in Pakistan, why not in Iran, Takjisistan, uzbekestan... why do terrorist love coming to Pakistan.. its because they are non state actors of establishment themselves and they use them when they need them

If the QRF is helicopter based, then what kind of CAS aircraft are supporting them? There should be a JF-17 QRF squadron spread out along the border in 6 aircraft clusters of 3 a piece. Armed with cost effective BRM1 90 mm laser guided rockets, they can pin down any attack until ground troops or other assets (possibly an Z-10ME attack helicopter arrives on scene).

At the level we are speaking, this is the only metric of success.
Imagine being a Levies gunman or FC soldier with an assault rifle and facing RAW-funded/trained religious fanatics such as TTP charging at you with anticipation for the 72 virgins they think they will meet soon after death.

Pakistan's problem is that it has no control over its borders, its lands, or even its people. Too many people move about, plot, act without being detected by government. Too much money moves around in undocumented economy without being taxed. Too many people move through borders without being checked. Too many maulvis deciding to do whatever they feel like doing. In lawless Pakistan, anyone can do whatever they feel like doing. People can even steal houses.

In China, everyone is being watched by cameras and data is fed to systems monitoring everything. Instead of cash, you have digital wallets and cards tracking spending habits & collecting taxes. The internal security is unparalleled except by maybe Saudi. Do you think groups like TLP exist in Saudi? No chance, they'd get squashed by Saudi govt.

If Pakistan became a surveillance state like China, your problems would disappear. No religious groups burning cars. No undocumented financial transactions. No separatists fighting against the state. Your economy might thrive with stability.
Becoming a surveillance state is easier said than done.

It sure looks that way, Pakistan army doesn't want another enemy at their border, they think of TTP as a militia and you cannot defeat a militia until you destroy its ideology. Pakistan needs to back a counter ideology to the TTP but no such policy was created.

TTP claims Pakistan army is Usa agent, they want to implement Sharia in KPK, they claim to care about their Pashtun brothers whilst Pakistan government doesn't, it allows Usa to bomb them, TTP has huge support in N and W Waziristan which is part of Pakistan. Are TTP claims genuine or false?

That would be a disaster, TTP and anti Pakistan militias will use this excuse to spread more hatred. Pakistan policy makers still believe they have enough influence in Afghan Taliban, Haqqani network to control this, yes attacks will continue, Pakistan can't do much about it. The blame goes on to whoever created these militias and this ideology.
The Islamic Shariah stuff factors in after.

The primary motivating factor for people joining groups like TTP is ethnic in nature, essentially being anti-Punjabi and Pashtun supremacy.

You will notice majority of TTP supporters all have the above in common. Even Afghan women that don't wear a hijab praise them, so it's obviously not the Islamic part that's attractive.

This is why state needs an ideology it backs.
Imagine a Levies gunman or FC soldier with emaan and sees raw funded khawarij charging at him. Unfortunately state played with secularism and promoted liberalism and beghairati amongst its security forces. The result was a breed of men more focused on worldly things like life, wealth, property and family so they forgot deen and, now when they see religious charged fanatics they give in.
A Muslim soldiers moral is his emaan.
You guys destroyed their moral with liberalism and secularism.
Now you’re paying the price.
You tried fighting an ideological war with bullets.
Even nukes won’t win you an ideological war.

If our dollarkhor generals use their minds for something other than dha they’ll understand.

They know how to play with sentiments and ideology. They use ethnicity or Islam when needed. They being “uneducated Mullahs” have proven to play the war of sentiments better than our “educated” generals. Could have used Salafi Nangarhar and Kunar and non Pashtun Nuristan and made them Pakistani influence strongholds. Instead the enemy has created ideological strongholds deep in your country. There’s only general and our leaders to blame for that.

On a strategic level the ideology is still Islam. The khawarij claim they’ll bring Shariah. Dollarkhors help their claim by promoting secularism and liberalism. On a tactical level their ideology is ethnicity. Dollarkhor besharams have a hand in enabling that too with their flawed policies.
You have to choose the right weapon at the right time at the right place.
In this case the weapon is the ideology.

RAW is training them in Kabul ?

Army should do Swat type of operation ...a massive merciless operation... no mercy, no court,no prison. Creat a buffer zone 30 miles inside Afghanistan and start surgical strikes on daily bases.
Do everything to stop taliban from pakistan . we dont want a taliban govt in our neighbour hood , they are dangerous for human rights of the citizen of the country they invade . They hanging by tree , beating by whips , stoning , cutting body parts are there normal punishment .
