Two U.S. Navy warships sailed near South China Sea islands claimed by China on Sunday, two U.S. officials told Reuters, in a move likely to anger Beijing as President Donald Trump seeks its continued cooperation on North Korea.

The operation was the latest attempt to counter what Washington sees as Beijing's efforts to limit freedom of navigation in the strategic waters.

While this operation had been planned months in advance, and similar operations have become routine, it comes at a particularly sensitive time and just days after the Pentagon uninvited China from a major U.S.-hosted naval drill.

The U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the Higgins guided-missile destroyer and the Antietam, a guided-missile cruiser, came within 12 nautical miles of the Paracel Islands, among a string of islets, reefs and shoals over which China has territorial disputes with its neighbors.

When are you actually going to do something about it? We are a little tired of your flyby antics.

Go move by US, since the beginning of their patrol in SCS which allow China to gradually militarized this region. China will just not end their activities but further increase and strengthening our military position, American can just patrol and leave but China is there to stay and boost our military capability.

As have been said countless of times, US can only send ships sailing in the area then make a U turn and heading back. China has been building up those islands in SCS and putting defensive measures on our assets. No matter how you one looks at it, China gaining more and more while US just sailing and flying and heading back to base. US is not gonna fight China over such an issue because US is not a claimant and it's not her core interest but China's. Sending more ships there will only result to more ramming with those huge tankers, waste of money if you ask me

The same stunt they pulled when Obama was in power where two b-52 flew near Chinese international line and all the red necks were cheering and waving American flags (made in China). Later reports found they got permission from CPC and the two b-52s were unarmed before the flight. Lol.

The american ships saw all the developments and weapons installed in the Chinese islands, they got scared and turned back politely. Dumb americans shout america stronk; they proudly wave american flags and maga hats, all of course are made in China.
