What's new

US Drone strikes in Pakistan are illegal under international law.

Do you think he (OBL) is still alive? If so, I think he is either in a "non-drone strike" place, like Karachi or Islamabad. Or, he is in Iran.

Also, Zawahiri and Mullah Omar escapes every time....

It is highly likely that OBL, Zawahiri and Omar are each being protected by either Pakistan or Iran.
Excuse me, I don't think you're aware of this but Iran and OBL+Taliban are not exactly bonhomie with each other. The two were about to clash just when you lot jumped into Afghanistan therefore preventing a war between the Shiite clerical regime of Iran and the Sunni Taliban.

How do you expect them to be in Iran? This is extremely stupid.

US Drone strikes are basically targeted assassinations; their legality has even been questioned at the UN forums.

They have provided a perverted moral justification to Taliban to carry out their destructive activities; there is little difference between sudden death through drones or through explosions. Innocent people are killed in both cases.

A dark blot however is on the sovereignty of the State of Pakistan which has been desecrated by our Government, having lost its writ in the bargain. Once the Government has willingly surrendered its writ to a foreign power what is the point in trying to restore it in FATA through Army operations?

The Darkest blot however is on the armed forces that are primarily tasked with securing our borders and airspace. Not only have they failed in their primary responsibility, they are probably the only unique example in the world to actually abet and facilitate strikes on its own territory (for whatever cause or justification).

India too has a massive Naxalite insurgency problem in 9 states; ever heard Indian Army facilitating US drone strikes to take out their bad guys? Did they allow it even in in Kashmir?

Nevertheless, Iran has sheltered members of OBL's immediate family. the Iranian Revolutionary Guards (IRG) play a sophisticated game. They are easily capable of both colluding with and protecting OBL and keeping the pot boiling in Iraq and Afghanistan to sap the strength of the USA. As long as the USA is focused on al Qaeda, they have much less "energy" and resources to focus on Iran. It would be in the interest of the IRG to keep OBL alive (on a short leash) if that opportunity presented itself.

PS. The USA did not depose Mossadeq. That was done by the Iranian military. At the time the USA had, maybe, two unarmed officials in Iran. If the Iranian government was so weak as to fall at the hands of two unarmed Americans, then it was pitiful. In fact, it was pitifully weak. This whining complaint that the USA deposed Mossadeq is another case of a people in denial about their own screw-ups in their own history. Coups do not happen in societies that have effective governments and patriotic, involved citizens.

You're so blind by your anti Iranian hatred that you continue to remain blind instead of seeking truth. The 1953 Iranian coup d'état, on August 19, 1953 (and called the 28 Mordad coup d'état in Iran), was the overthrow of the democratically-elected government of Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh by the United States' Central Intelligence Agency.[1] The crushing of Iran's democratically elected government launched 25 years of dictatorship under Mohammad-Rezā Shāh Pahlavi, who relied heavily on U.S.-trained secret police SAVAK[2] and U.S.-supplied weapons to hold on to power until he was overthrown in February 1979.

Mohammad Mosaddeq and the 1953 Coup in Iran
A Joint U.S.-British Regime-Change Operation in 1953 that Holds Lessons for Today

"This book … sheds vital new light on issues that remain crucial to the evolution of U.S.-Iran relations and to continuing questions about unilateralism and secrecy in U.S. foreign policy."

Nikki Keddie, UCLA
"Mark Gasiorowski and Malcolm Byrne have assembled a stellar array of talented scholars … This is an exceptional collection dealing with a uniquely important event."

Gary Sick, Columbia U.
"This multinational, multiarchival history is a magnificent addition to the literature on post-World War II international history."

Melvyn Leffler, U. of Virginia.

Among the book's main conclusions is that Iranians and non-Iranians both played crucial parts in the coup's success. The CIA, with help from British intelligence, planned, funded and implemented the operation. When the plot threatened to fall apart entirely at an early point, U.S. agents on the ground took the initiative to jump-start the operation, adapted the plans to fit the new circumstances, and pressed their Iranian collaborators to keep going. Moreover, a British-led oil boycott, supported by the United States, plus a wide range of ongoing political pressures by both governments against Mosaddeq, culminating in a massive covert propaganda campaign in the months leading up to the coup helped create the environment necessary for success.

and secondly Pakistan nor Iran have any incentive of protecting OBL.You're a stupid conspiracy theorist.

US drone attack kills Lebanese terrorist in Pakistan

Sun, 20 Jun 2010 14:29:59 GMT

Peshawar, Pakistan - A major Lebanese terrorist released by the German government five years ago has been killed in a US drone attack in Pakistan's tribal region, Pakistani intelligence sources said on Sunday.

Mohammed Ali Hamadi died when a missile fired by a CIA-operated unmanned drone aircraft destroyed a compound in North Waziristan, a known hub of al-Qaeda and Taliban militants, on Saturday.

"Altogether 16 militants died in the drone attack and 11 of them were foreigners," said a Pakistani intelligence official who spoke on condition of anonymity. The term foreigner is used to refer to al- Qaeda associated operatives of Arab and Central Asian origin.

"We have identified those who were killed and among them is Mohammad Ali Hamadi," added the official.

Another intelligence official who also sought anonymity verified the death of Hamadi. However, there was no government official available who could confirm the killing on record.

Hamadi, 46, is an alleged member of the Lebanese militant organization Hezbollah. He was sentenced by a West German court in 1987 for 19 years for skyjacking a Trans World Airlines flight in 1985. One US Navy diver was killed in the hostage-taking event.

The convict was released on parole in 2005 by German authorities, after which Hamadi is believed to have returned to Lebanon. In 2006, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) put his name on its list of most wanted terrorists.

Pakistani intelligence officials said that Hamadi traveled to Afghanistan to fight NATO troops in November 2009 and joined the Central Asia-based al-Qaeda linked terrorist group Jamaat al-Jihad al-Islami, which is believed to have recruited many Turkish and German nationals.

In March 2010, Hamadi came to Pakistan's North Waziristan district, from where al-Qaeda and Taliban fighters conduct cross- border attacks on international forces in Afghanistan, to join colleagues based there.

"Hamadi and his comrades were in a meeting to plan further attacks in Afghanistan when the drone strike took place," a Pakistani intelligence official said.

Among the other killed were: Atif bin Saeed, believed to be a close associate of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden; Turkish national Abdul Waheed al-Turkey; Saudi citizens Abdul Hamam and Brother Gul (a nick name); and Palestinian national Abdul Wali.

Wasn't those US Special forces who let OBL slip away in tora bora. Never take responsibility of your own mistakes. US should not have let him escape in the first place..

Tora Bora was too late. US had CIA-sponsored hit-teams in Afghanistan as soon as OBL landed there around mid 90's. But they never took him out. Wondey why !

Because Bill Clinton was a coward, first and formost. Later, he had a problem with Monica Lewinsky that prevented him from taking chances that might be criticized, like killing women and children (collateral damage) in any kind of strike on al Qaeda's bases where their wives and children were present.

At Tora Bora, the USA blew it, big time, due to an untimely command and control linkage all the way back to the pentagon. Even so, that is no reason why Pakistan should shelter OBL, Zawahiri and Omar. Pakistan needs to DO MORE ....

Well, so does the US i guess.

And, i don't really think that OBL or Zawahiri are in Pakistan any more, even though people would like to think so. There have been several reports to this effect. Although, none of them is really substantiative, but neither are those which claim he is in Pakistan.

Clinton was a coward and yet he ultimately ordered the cruise missile strikes.

With all those highly trained SF and state of the art weaponry US wasn't able to do anything....Why are you asking us to do more? The number of lives given by Pakistani civilians and soldiers doesn't count. We have given many times more lives what you lost on 9/11. He is not in Pakistan. all those who were in Pakistan got captured or killed. We've lost the maximum and we've killed the maximum. Dont tell us to do more. The fact is US dont know what to do with this war now. Just for sending few thousand troops you guys kept discussing it for 2 months that weather we should send them or not. If you guys ask us to do more you should do more yourself. more than 1/3rd of the army is operating in WOT according to recent reports. our current total strength is more than 700000. its 1/3rd is almost 250000 and this does not include FC troops. and how many Americans we see in whole Afghanistan. 80000 right? Compare who is giving more. You leaders are not intrested in war. They know they gonna loose. thats why they blame Pakistan for their failures.

Next time you say this fuc king DO MORE Do count the lifes we've given. The shattred bodies of innocent civilian we've lifted with our bare hands. You haven't seen a bit of IT. and to tell you i live in Peshawar. And i've seen the things which you cant even imagine.

That says it all. You have amply demonstrated your ability to process facts and reach an intelligent conclusion - none. Anyone who truly believes that OBL is being protected by Iran and Pakistan, is both stupid and reflexively anti-Pakistan and Anti-Iran.

Seriously, I have never read so much bullsh!t in my life! A Hardcore Wahabi (who was funded by CIA in the 80's) is now being protected by Shia regime? Lol, how much more stupider can anyone get than this?

Anyone with common sense would know that Wahabis hate Shiahs and consider them infidels!

During Tora Bora America was paying Afghan Warlords to find and hand in OBL but that silly strategy didn't work (no sane person would trust Afghan warlords)! So now idiots are blaming Pakistan for this?

Even now American and their allies continue to payoff warlords to do their job and the funny thing is these same warlords join Taliban to blow up convoys!

Pakistan has been doing its part from the start, its you lazy Americans who just pay off Afghan mercs to hand in OBL and co instead of doing the job yourself!
