US exempts 11 nations from Iran sanctions; China, India exposed

Also, COSL doesn't need the latest tech in oilfield finding - we just need good enough tech, which is still pretty damn advanced. We're not in competition with anyone - our markets are protected and closed.

From what I know, surveying is NOT labor intensive. It doesn't take thousands of people to wire explosives or conduct magnetic/gravitational surveys. It is incredibly capital intensive, in fact, and requires extremely high tech tools in the form of superconducting gravitometers, magnetometers and seismic data processing with supercomputers.

A typical desert land survey requires a crew of about 500 people to lay cables embedded with seismic sensors (geophone) over a small area, these sensors measure the acoustic returns from a seismic generator. This task is repeated for several years(3 to 5 years) by several large crews until the entire exploration block is surveyed. Over densely forested or rough terrain the same task requires much more time and many more people. It is both capital and labor intensive, the technology involved in capturing this data hasn't evolved much in the last three decades. Data processing and analysis is complex, large NOC's typically prefer to handle this activity in-house for security reasons by engaging specialist for expert interpretation, analysis and advise.

As for Iran, as I said earlier Iranian reservoirs are much more complex than the fields across the strait in Saudi, Kuwait and UAE. To complicate matters these fields have been traditionally poorly-managed and overtime the insertion of high tech solutions have become necessary to sustain Iranian output.

Lol at these fools man, whatever they do is good for Iran.

we need to stop relying on oil.

One minute you hate Iran next minute your saying good things?
you have an very alternating attitude...

is that difficult to understand. Yes I make reference to the country under current government also as "Iran" which could be the source of confusion as in any case we are discussing current affairs and not past affairs.

Thank you. COSL is mostly specialized in offshore services and are very specialized for China's particular geography. I'm not sure how they'd adapt to Iran's geography. How has the technology for surveying not changed though? It seemed to have the potential to be revolutionized over the last 30 years due to the appearance of SQUID's for both gravitational and magnetic surveying, cheap computers which enable more instruments to fit down in a test hole, ground penetrating radar, and supercomputing.

How about the countries who will face US sanction DOUBLE the shipments of Iranian oil from Iran as protest/retaliation... would be really interesting development :D

Oil prices are very high and I would advise Iran to give around 20% to 30% discount on its oil/ gas to its major customers like India, China, South Korea, South Africa, Turkey, Pakistan including Japan to give a message that Iran’s friends will be rewarded for their friendship. Oil prices are around $123 per barrel right now, very high as compare to around $75 per barrel average of last year, if I remember. Therefore, it won’t be hard for them to offer 20% to 30% discount on oil/ gas to its major customers :what:

Even if Iran does business with only their 6-7 major customers as stated above, in their own currencies like rupee/ yuan/ yen etc, not dollar, then Iran may import its required wheat/ rice from Pakistan, all the usual usage products from China, similar products/ food and jewelries including gold from India, with high tech products/ machineries from Japan/ Korea also. Iran won’t need to do business with anyone else except these 6-7 countries and they just have to twice their energy sell to their these main 6-7 customers
