US Stealth UAV RQ-170 downed in IRAN

I believe at this moment that the USA has stepped up war rhetoric against Iran this footage can act as deterrence. It signals to the USA that Iran isn't Afghanistan and Iraq and the USA needs to think twice before making a stupid move. Iran needs to remind that to the USA every month that they know their limits.

If these photos/videos and craft are genuine, and the craft is as undamaged on the inside as it looks on the outside, this is a major technological and political coup for all of the US' adversaries. From Venezuela to North Korea, to China to, well, Iran.

Whatever the events leading up to this, there should be some heads rolling within those involved.

drones were originally meant to operate in already US dominated airspace, this puts serious questions to the Idea of stealthy drones operating even near hostile uncontested territory in a recon role. That might just have been best left with lower tech drones, manned jets, spies, and/or satellites.

Well that's beside the point now, with the RQ-170 likely compromised, there should be much less pushback into using it, after all, the tech is probably out of the bag.

I saw a videoclip of american plane (rq 170) in iran
with This technology iran dont requires Nuclear bomb
If Iran can to control America's most sophisticated spy planes will have
Power to use Enemy Nuclear bombs against her own :yahoo:

You are joking.

Re: Iran show US UAV
Utter nonsense- (depending on whom you believe) it was shot down or crashed either way there would be IMMENSE and irreparable damaged caused to the craft (especially if it was shot down by a missile with EXPLOSIVES). Look at the vid, there is 0 damage to the UAV. Clearly a plastic model.

Cheap PR stunt turned EPIC FAIL!!

Iran itself stated it obtained the drone in part due to the help of whatever serves as its electronic warfare division.

This idea has been seen as ludicrous by those more knowledgeable, but this pic (once again, if genuine) seems to put some visual credibility behind the idea.

If Iran did hack the systems to bring this down, then, while this is a big technological coup and political victory, it also has tipped Iran's hand somewhat, and US drone operators and flight crews in general will be more cautious in their missions (note that this doesn't say they will stop their missions).

Skepticism by some is exactly why Iran shouldnt had show anything at all - mind games with US has its value too. If Iran would have shown just a picture - some would claim its photoshop, they showed video - "mockup then". There is no way Iran could prove it more decisively, and people will believe what they prefer anyway.

In any case, shown footage is a moral and PR win for Iran, but the main work lies ahead - to learn from the high-tech drone, as much as they can, as fast as they can.
