PML-N / PPPP / ANP all combined will not give them 2/3rd majority.

They need 2/3rd majority in NA + Provincial assemblies.

Old Judges won't come back either.

They need a simple majority to declare the PCO illegal but that's it, it would be referred to the current Supreme court who have already declared the PCO legal.

Musharraf still survives.

:) old Judges won't come back indeed as i dont see Zardari will be having balls to cut his own feet.

Lol Shabaz Sharif said that if oposition dosn't win 2/3 then elections are rigged.

Who knows .. if he was correct ..

Aray Bhai,

Every "neutral/independent" election observer has declared the elections "largely free and fair", what more do you want? Hanuman to come down and validate it? People were expecting Shaikh Rashid and the Chaudhry brothers to win in their constituencies, it would have been the easiest thing for the GoP to do - rig elections to ensure their stalwarts won, and no one would suspect, instead they lost. I think it speaks volumes to the fairness of the elections.

EDIT:
SO to overturn the constitutional amendments/impeach, the PPP + PML-Q + ANP need two thirds majority in provinces AND Center?

What about constitutional amendments, do those require 2/3's majority in Center alone, or provinces as well?

Thanks God! Thugs will not have a free hand to ruin this country after so much of work was done by Musharraf.

for constitutional amendments they need 2/3's majority in Center only.

Total National Assembly seats are 272

At 4pm the party position was as

PPPP= 87 seats
PML-N=66
PML-Q=38
MQM=19
ANP=10
MMA=3
PML-F=4
PPP(S)=1
Independent =27

For constitutional amendments (removing seventeenth amendment, overturning bar on third time premiership) the PPP/PML-N/ANP need 182 seats. They have 163 seats between them.

Assuming the MQM, PML-Q, PML-F do not support such an amendment, they would need the MMA and some of the independents (mostly from Tribal areas) to support them. What is the PPP's position on the seventeenth amendment now that BB is gone?

Agno 60 reserve seats of National Assembly are also gonna play the role.

Don know about PPP stance but Nawaz gonna do everything to bring down Musharraf.

But i dont see it will be easy for PPP and PML-N to form alliance easily.

There are bigger differences of opinion on issues.

MMA is not going to join them thats for sure but 10 ANP seats will surely make the difference plus if Nawaz and Zardari put more money they will get the support from Independnts from tribal areas.

Lol Shabaz Sharif said that if oposition dosn't win 2/3 then elections are rigged.

He also said he would resign if they even got 10 seats but the election was free and fair. Don't see him resigning. How do the Pakistan public put up with this rubbish.

I thought that a coalition with the PPP, PML-N and MQM would give the Government the 2/3 (if is 60% for 66%) majority needed. Even 10 less seats for PPP and PML-N counted together would have made such a big difference. Which is a shame. Can't see the MQM not wanting to be a part of the new Government.

You need a two third majority for an amendment in both houses. PML-Q still rules the rooste in the senate and will do for another year. That will block any attempt for now.

Thanks Sparten,

So we have a year for everyone to come to their senses, and the PPP to realize that the Quasi Mullahs of the PML-N do not really jive with their ideology. Almost certain that the PML-N is going to refuse to let the Musharraf issue die down during this time, rather than focus on running the country, because then the differences really come into view. The PML-N really does not have anything on its agenda besides being anti Musharraf, withdrawing army from FATA and appointing AQ khan as pres.- none of which is realistic.

There will be another election in an year or two's time.

Chaudhary Shujaat challenged NS earlier today that the promise of bringing back the old judges that you've done, now lets see you do it! I mean that was one of the big killers for PML-Q and a gain for PML-N.

Now if PPPP doesn't support the old judges movement and they won't since Iftikhar Chaudhary is adamant that the NRO should be scrapped then why would PPPP just sentence themselves to jail?

So this unholy alliance would ultimately end sooner or later.
