Will S.Korea and Japan fall into developing countries because of fierce competition from China?

Because those plaintiffs, I mean Japanese photovoltaic companies, they all died.

Japan has been running a deficit for 30 consecutive months now, why do some people still imagine that this country can be saved. Don't they know what it means for an island country without any resources to fall into a long-term deficit?
Oh man, can't believe I miss the 2nd part.
I think Japan will fall into a developing country but their entertainment industry will stay afloat.
Last year, their game Elden Ring sold over 20 millions, making billions over a 200 million development cost.

And this year, RE4make already sold over 4 millions in just 4 days, Suzume and Slam Dunk are huge hits in Asia (both making 300-200 mil) and even the Mario movie hits 1 billion USD mark.

The Anime-Manga-Video games wave is gonna keep Japan living.

Industries S.Korea and Japan have lost and are losing to China.

ship building
display screen
memory chip
battery
semi-conductor below 28nm
.......

Most importantly of all, Japan is very likely to lose its last economic fort ----car industry to China's EV cars. Hyundai is not competitive to Chinese rivals in this field too. If it weren't for US chip ban, Samsung had lost its best selling phone title to Huawei long ago.

Even in entertainment field, China is challenging S.Korea domination in drama industry and Japan domination in cartoon industry. Genshin is the world most popular game now.

Japan ans S.Korea have been net trade deficit countries for consecutive several years. Not a good sign for them.
What a silly post

Of course not

Why should they fall back into preindustrial age?

They are not at war and sanctioned like Russia.

They don’t have dumb leaders like those in Argentina, Venezuela, or Sri Lanka.

China industry is certainly the big threat but demography is the more serious threat for Japan and Korea.

Japan and S.Korea are disgrace of the East Asia, voluntarily to serve as western running dogs, no honor, no self respect, China and Vietnam need to work together to uphold our regional culture and history, fighting off western neo colonialism of East Asia through Japan and S.Korea.

Population decline is not the problem

The most dangerous thing is the change in demographic structure.

2 atomic bombs can't destroy Japan, 3 years war can't destroy South Korea, but 2 million African or South Asian.... immigrants can.
Foreigners have no chance in Japan. The country is not made for foreigners. Maybe Vietnamese, and Chinese can live in Japan, but not for other immigrants. Japan population shrinks by 500,000-600,000 per year. That’s about the size of a city in Germany. Imagine, every year a city disappears. That’s horrific. That’s only getting worse. Japan has passed the point of no return.
I had a high hope on Japan they can stop or slow down chinese imperialism. But no more. Hopeless.

When shit hits the fan, please at least tell us beforehands, 500.000 viets in Japan will need evacuation.

Japan will decline due to the loss of its industrial system, but they still have a very good education system.

Japan will not transform from a developed country to a developing country like Argentina, but they will become the next Portugal&Spain. I mean the bottom developed countries.

It is not possible for a country to decrease from current status without being hit by wars hence they will remain 1st world country.. Once a country climbs to 1st world status they can only hit rock bottom by wars or natural disaster

You are barking at the wrong tree and you obviously get the whole idea of the situation wrong.

Argentina and South Africa were once developed countries.

By the way, developed countries have the possibility of becoming developing countries, but some countries with excellent national education can quickly climb out even if they fall into hell. For example, Japan and Germany after WW2. Even if the countries turns into waste, they still have tens of millions of educated citizens.

A person's wealth is actually a realization of their understanding of the world.

They were assumed to be but they were never developed countries in the true essence besides what is developed country needs a more clearer definition.. Both countries were always chaotic

China's shipbuilding industry surpasses Japan and Korea, does that mean other developing countries will be better than Japan and Korea in shipbuilding? Are not. That didn't happen, the distance between them remained unchanged. Japan and South Korea are still shipbuilding powers, while other countries are still poor and backward countries.

Years ago, it was predicted that the Swiss watch industry would be destroyed by Japan, and now, Switzerland is fine.

Similarly, Japan and Korea have many technological know-how, patents, and trade secrets, which cannot be replaced by other countries, and more importantly, they can flexibly change to suit their needs, respond to the changes of the times.

The idea of completely destroying the industrial system and destroying the foundations of these two countries is impossible.

In the worst-case scenario, Japan and South Korea certainly won't be downgraded to the same level as the countries of South America or Eastern Europe.

In the 1980s, South Africa's per capita GDP was higher than Singapore's.

In 1910s, Argentina's per capita GDP was higher than that of Germany, France, Canada, and the Netherlands.

Mandela changed the fate of South Africa. Americans have changed the fate of Argentina.

Why are these two developed countries so fragile? Because their wealth does not come from the people.

Political power can be overthrown, and assets can be destroyed. But the knowledge within the people can never be taken away. Education is the foundation of a developed country.

BTW: When your leader is cursed by the world, he may not be a wrong choice. But if your leader is praised by the world like Mandela, you better be careful.

Crucial tech is still in japan. Just ask South Korea what happened after they locked Japanese warplane ……Chinese population and economy is really declining. In hindsight things will remain same as of yet.
Crucial tech can't support 100m Japanese current living standard! Japan's 40% GDP are car related. Lets say it's car sell shirk by half, Japan will lost more than 30% of current GDP. Japan government revune will not even cover the debt interest by then! This is what happen when you gambled wrong tech for 30 years!

Japan Tried to Build a Hydrogen Society. It Backfired Spectacularly.
