Christian confession thing, yes it's blasphemous from a muslim perspective how can one man forgive the sins of another man in the name of God? But at least it shames you into not committing sin. The religion basically says "Don't commit sins that you will be too ashamed to confess" lol

No disrespect but that is a laughable concept.

if you are not ashamed of committing sins when God is watching you and knows every single thing going inside your heart, then feeling ashamed in front of a priest is hypocritical. Also, one could simple not go to confession to avoid feeling ashamed in front on another man. Or lie or not tell the whole truth. How would the priest know. It's God who knows and that's why He's who should ask for forgiveness from.

The difference is, God is an abstract concept, basically a voice in your head and the voice in your head could be corrupt. You might be a person who lacks compassion, empathy, mercy.

Speaking to an actual person and having to put into words what you have done and uttering them out loud could be much more embarrassing and you have to listen to their reaction.

In the end the priest could say, "**** off, your sins are too heinous to be forgiven." whereas the voice in your head will always agree with you

I just thought about this now but this also adds another level of security, imagine yourself living in a religious christian village. The priest will always know who the biggest piece of shits are. It's a valuable thing in an era where there were no security cameras
