I haven't seen a thread for this so here it is.

The AFC's 2019 Asian Cup is being hosted in the UAE. The reigning 2015 Champions are Australia.

So far Iran, Japan, South Korea, Jordan and Qatar have looked very strong, and Australia can never be underestimated.

Notable results include Jordan beating Australia 1-0 and Qatar defeating Saudi Arabia 2-0.

The group stages concluded today, and the bracket for the round of 16 (and onwards) is as follows:

Top half:

Thailand vs China
Iran vs Oman

Jordan vs Vietnam
Japan vs Saudi Arabia

Bottom half:

South Korea vs Bahrain
Qatar vs Iraq

UAE vs Kyrgyzstan
Australia vs Uzbekistan

Iran played a poor game vs Iraq. Many are saying our coach used the B team. Very disappointing that game. This tournament could go any where. It's all up in the air. Iran should win this, but watching the last game has put doubts on Iran winning this easily.

Yes it was a terrible performance, but also many players were rested: Taremi, Torabi, Dejagah, Shojaei, Pouraliganji. I think we really missed Dejagah's composure and technical ability because Iraq was pressing against us very effectively and we couldn't keep the ball.

But at the end of the day we only needed a draw to top the group and we got it.

Also good news that Jahanbahksh returned, he could be important for the next stage if he can recover some good form.

Australia lost to Jordan and Qatar beat Wahhabistan so anything can happen, I think we will have to revert to our typical defending game against the better teams

Iran is definitely making it to the SF. We will have to beat Japan and move to the final.

Looks like final will be between Korea and Iran.

Jordan Japan and KSA are all strong and all on our half of the draw, but luckily they are all on the same quarter lol so we only have to play one of them to reach the final

Oman is a big challenge as well, they lost to Japan only 1-0 in the groups and gave them a very difficult game

But China in the QF if we beat Oman will be easier, but one game at a time and lets see, football is unpredictable :dance3:

Vietnam beat Jordan on penalties after drawing 1-1 (big surprise result)

China came from behind to beat Thailand 2-1

And Iran are winning 2-0 against Oman at half time. Beiranvand saved a penalty in the first few minutes, then Jahanbahksh and Dejagah scored for Iran.

After a dominant second half performance (Taremi and Azmoun should have scored 2 goals each!), Iran beat Oman 2-0 and are through to the next round (QF)! :partay::dance3::yay:

Iran will face China in the QF next. Iran are heavy favourites to win.

No I don't watch soccer in America unless its the world cup. I do enjoy American football and play it. But I do keep up with the Asian cup for sure.

What does America have to do with football? They couldn't even qualify for the World Cup :p:

Who are you supporting in the Asian Cup? (You can see the draw and games above)

Jordan played fantastic in the group stage, but then lost unexpectedly to Vietnam on penalties today

No, I watch American Football like with helmets, as I live in America because I thought you said if you watch football but than I said no I don't. I'm supporting the UAE or Saudi Arabia which I think might get pretty far into the Asian cup. You know, these guys.
