Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has indirectly admitted the superiority of Pakistani military in the ongoing confrontation between the two countries triggered the February 14 suicide attack on Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.

“Today, we badly felt the absence of Rafale fighter jets [in our air force fleet]. If we had Rafale, the scenario would have been different,” Modi said while speaking at the India Today Conclave 2019 in New Delhi on Saturday.

Modi said he would like to make it clear that in the past, the country ‘suffered’ due to vested interest over the Rafale jets.

The Modi administration has signed a multibillion-dollar deal French defence manufacturer Dassault Aviation to acquire 36 Rafale jets in an effort to overhaul the Indian Air Force. The opposition accuses Modi of wrongdoing in the deal.

Pakistan Air Force shot down two Indian warplanes on Wednesday – a day after Indian aircraft violated Pakistan’s airspace and dropped their payload in a jungle of Balakot district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

New Delhi claimed its forces also shot down a Pakistan F-16 fighter jet but failed to substantiate its claim with credible evidence.

The Russian-made MiG jets form an important part of the IAF fleet. India started using the MiGs in 1963, but since 1970, 170 pilots and 40 civilians have been killed in accidents involving the aircraft series. Due to high rate of crashes, MiGs have come be called ‘flying coffins’.

Modi criticised the opposition for politicising the Rafale deal.

“We continue to suffer due to the politicisation of the Rafale deal. The vested interests and politicisation has caused great harm to the nation’s interest,” he said.

Attacking the opposition, Modi said they [Opposition] are welcome to criticise his government’s policies and find faults in its working. “But I request you not to oppose matters related to the nation’s security,” he said.

US has some real chance to prove US tech better then russian by giving free hand to paf to use F-16 without any restrictions. f16 blk 52 with the right man in the cockpit is a lethal machine

Modi Jee Indirectly admitting that their airforce got totally humiliated by the PAF. I mean come on!
- Successful strike killing 300 terrorists
- Mig-21 shooting much superior F-16
- PAF Jets getting intercepted before striking their targets in IoK
- India getting its pilot back

Indians should be off to moon to celebrate... But deep inside they know the truth :)

but they have MKI?

Be glad that Pakistan does not have the
J-31, J-20 or AZM yet.........:azn:

i think if more LCAs would be around the situation would have been more different...

BTW didnt make in india LCA good enough?.. why french jets.. what is wrong with a hendoo jet??

:)

But but wasn't the mighty 2nd most advanced fighter jet (after F-22 according to vegies) Su-30 MKI Enough??? :o::o:
Actually not anymore... Modi's statement is based on experience, now he can say stuff with confidence, on face of those who used to flaunt high specs. of Su-30 in argument against Rafael.
However, as i understand there's much more in to Rafael deal then simply technical.

I don't know why they want Rafael when they have mighty mig21 the F-16 eater..

i think paf should think about inducting a couple of squadrons of fifth gen jets from china. before this incident i was against inducting more advanced platforms in paf as we already have nuclear deterance against india but after this aerial engagement i have realized that we need modern air force to keep the morale of the nation high even before the start of full scale war.

OK but they have su30 MKI. This is supposed to be better than all Pakistani planes, especially the 3rd generation low quality JF17. Even the f16 are 4th generation planes from the 1980s. Piece of cake for the Mirage 2000 and Su30MKI 4.5+ generation fighter plane
