JF-17 Block-3 -- Updates, News & Discussion

makes no sense - where is the prototype?
It means either of the 2 things:

1) B variant is the final design being adopted for Block 3
2) its a bad reporting and ACM was actually referring to production of prototype variant that will serve as test bed ...

However, if its case 2 then its bad planning on part of PAF as you cant close the production line for few years, in ideal scenario end of block 2 should be connecting with beginning of block 3 production

any news about block 3 engine?? which one they are going to use over it

i am not expecting any frame changes in JF-17 block 3, though more composite materials would be use in it to improve the thrust to weight ratio, upgraded avionics with additional hard point ... so lets keep our expectation to a realistic level to avoid any disappointment towards its appearance
Nothing is going to change except avionics and Radar

You will see first jft block 3 on 23 march 2020 .
Production will start in 2019 and until end of 2020 paf probably have 8 + jft block 3 .

There is a reason for secrecy . Even in paf only few know exactly the progress , capability , performance , avionics and other systems used on jft .
What i heard from someone frm PAF that Jft block 3 surpass all current PAF and IAF inventory . And this is very much true in terms of capability shown during trials and tests .

Well considering Pakistan's Media is not that much educated in terms of Defence technologies,
Still There are two things that came to my mind , F
they got it wrong,
Second, they got it right, may b Block 3 is not significantly changed in terms of Engine and Airframe, hence no extensive testing (prototype). The main thing they integrated would be HMDs, and Radar, Most probably Chinese one that came recently,

Disclaimer: I am not an expert, These are just assumption :p:

1. The production of JF-17 Block III to begin this year is in Pakistan.

2. The prototype is in China.

3. It is just as what the chief designer of FC-1/JF-17 had said before.
Agreed; bad media reporting without checking facts.

Correct. I am suspecting that B will be the variant for Block3 as well; to have 2 seperate lines for B and blk3 is inefficient. Depending on external orders blk2 line may still be required.

I hope Block 3's engine is equipped with TVC.

Thunders were never designed with TVC in mind considering its just a lightweight fighter. You will basically need to redesign JF THUNDER into entirely new aircraft to introduce TVC. Basically Block 3 will be the end of line for our thunder project. In future Project AZM might be looking into introduction of TVC engines.

For such a small aircraft tvc engines are not required ... its already nimble and can further increase it by just increasing the thrust to weight ratio

Roza laga hoa ha kia??? Ghor sa parho dobara

In an interview with a weekly magazine Jane’s Defense, the air chief said a new Chinese radar will be used in these aircraft.
He said Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) is set to deliver final three JF-17 Thunder Block II multi-role combat aircraft to Pakistan Air Force (PAF) by next month.

It is worth mentioning that the top-notch professionalism of PAF has been the talk of the town lately, as it shot down two fighter jets of Indian Air Force (IAF) bright day light on February 27 over violation of the Line of Control (LoC).
One IAF jet crashed inside Azad and Jammu Kashmir region while other in India occupied Kashmir.

Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan named the PAF’s response against Indian aggression as ‘Operation Swift Retort’.

“February 27’s ‘Operation Swift Retort’ will always be remembered,” said the PAF air chief while addressing participants of 264th Air Staff Presentation at Air Headquarters in Islamabad in May.

He vowed that the PAF response will be even stronger than before in case of any genre of aggressive showed by the enemy.

Hi,

Thank you for the post---.

The changeover could also mean to update and upgrade Kamra facilities as well---get the staff ready for the new project---by preparing them for what is coming---.

The air chief just said they haven’t finalised the radar yet

And will finalise it soon

After that B3 will fly next year

Well it was meant to fly in 2017 then 2018 and then 2019 and now 2020

This project is at least 2 years late if not 3

Something needs to change and fast

Pick the bloody radar and fly the thing
