What's new

New threat for Pakistani AWACs emerging in India.

India is developing a new air to air version of its brahmos missile to target Pakistani Airborne early warning systems.

After the events of last year February 26/27 India who was dilutional about its military superiority got an eye opener from Pakistani Air force who first successfully stopped India in its offensive on Pakistani soil but also retaliated in return to make India feel more miserable.

They key factor in this 2 day tea party in which India faced, was the threat of highly integrated Pakistani AWAC network which timely recognized the threat and also coordinated in Pakistan's response over Indian soil.

India Air chief has admitted on past many occasions about their lack of good fighter jets as their reason of defeat to Pakistan but to put in prospective Pakistan was not the aggressor here and Indian misadventures was of political motive not military motive.

Any how India has realized its low capability against Pakistan in air warfare and has decided to gain an advantage to throw the balance of power in subcontinent in indias favor. This can result in a weapons race in this already tense region. India was already acquiring Rafael jets from France to fulfill its ambitions of threatening its small neighbours and make it policies dominate the region but some reports are suggesting now that India is working on an air to air version of brahmos along Russia to target Pakistani AWACs which poses a threat to any Indian aggression towards its small neighbor. Pakistan with its lower military budget has successfully kept the balance of power in subcontinent but Indian ambitions to become a threat are growing.

The new missile which India is working on is a air to air version of Brahmos with a range of 350 to 450 km expected. It is thought to be a kinetic kill vehicle with speeds exceeding previous version. The missile is thought to be deployed SU-30 MKI of Indian air force. The missile is also considered less maneuverable and can only target slow moving AWACs. India is expected to sign an agreement on this with Russia some where between April and May.
The air carried version of Brahmos dubbed the Brahmos-NG which could be integrated on all fighter jets in IAF's inventory is not something developed after the Feb-27 fiasco but much before it. So are most other procurements, be it artillery systems, S-400 etc. Something which IAF realized after Feb-27 was how PAF was much ahead in EW warfare and effective utilization of AWACS. Interms of an air-to-air version, DRDO has already developed Astra and orders have been placed recently. Again, there is a possibility Brahmos company could develop a ramjet powered A2A missile but their current focus is Brahmos-NG and Brahmos-II hypersonic cruise missile

I think we must forget 27th February after its first anniversary. India has taken the lessons very seriously..

This A2A is a lethal capability if acquired in the next five years.. Also, S-400 gives them an edge against our airborne assets.

India is contacting every supplier after last year's beating.
The only big ticket item which India is procuring is the NASAMS-II but that is to protect Delhi's NCR region. US uses the same to protect DC.

Most other procurements were finalized much before but we only started receiving them in recent times. There were some reports that IAF wanted an AA missile to match your AIM-120 either from Russia or Israel but dropped out on that. They were interested in additional MBDA's Meteor but France said they could only be integrated on fighters using European radars, so we're only getting them for Rafales but that's part of the initial weapons package though

The talk of Third carrier vs 6 Nuc subs is also a huge potential threat of future.
Nuc subs yes, but there is no official confirmation of a 3rd carrier yet. Slow-down in economic growth did not see much increase in IN's budget while the currently allocated budget would go for existing surface ships being built in various shipyards across the country

Source please of this f@king brain f@rt to be honest.....Brahmos is a cruise missile with tones of weight can't be used as air to air launch weapon....for God sake have some logic before post such nonsense illogical hilarious threads....I am truly disappointed by your this thread not expecting from you....

RIP to basic knowledge of millitary stuff...
The air to surface Brahmos has already been successfully tested on modified Su-30s and a total of 42 Su-30s are being modified for this purpose

The Brahmos-NG dubbed the Brahmos mini is solely developed to be integrated across all IAF fighter jets

In regards to the air-to-air missile, probably the OP was talking about an entirely new A2A missile which Brahmos company could clearly develop which might as well be a derivative of the current Brahmos powered by a ramjet engine. FYI, MBDA's meteor is also powered by a Ramjet and Raytheon had plans to develop a ramjet version of the AIM-102 dubbed FMRAAM

U didn't got R77-1?
Not that I'm aware of. A ton of reports came up that IAF signed deals with Israel and Russia for various A2A missiles after Feb-27 but there was no official confirmation from IAF nor MoD and most of em turned out to be hoax. Infact, the same news outlets produced conflicting reports with a short span (see links)

IAF wanted to place more orders for MBDA's Meteor but since they could only be used on jets with European radars, that didn't go through. IAF did place an order for 200 Astra BVRAAMs though

Hey better that Allowing wild boars to skewer your own plane. Dont you think ? Windy - we can do this whole day along.
See there you go again, running back to an event that took place over Thirty years earlier just in a desperate effort to make a post....now let's see, the said incident took place towards the end of 1986 when during a night take-off an F-16 hit a wild boar which had managed to sneak into the runway. This happened in pitch darkness with hardly anyone present around the runway, also remember the airbase is surrounded by 1000s acres of fields roaming with Mammals.....now look at the following video captured in broad daylight of an area purposely secured for the occasion and even with thousands of people present, another four-legged creature, after managing to sneak into Obama's reception in Delhi, also spoils it for the IAF.

BTW, hope you remember to wear a helmet when you are out and about because the IAF likes to surprise only its own citizens

Sorry the post just skipped. How does it matter Windy ? Your plane was skewered by Boar - its pretty funny i think. Of all the animals, it had to be boar. Let the stray dog have a good stroll - he didnt harm any apparatus - lol.

with regards to helmet - are you saying that 3 crashes this year all floated down ? The projectiles did not harm any one ? I mean are you seriously saying that PAF has some sort of technology which can bring down a disabled jet via parachute..come ..please find a better riposte.

There's nothing funny about it as we don't have cows sitting in jewelry shops for prosperity, alas a wild boar running out of fields is not something unheard of but then again, there are cases where even humans behave worse than animals.

After having the distinction of crossing the five-figure mark in crashes you are grasping straws with the three crashes which happened after an incident-free 12 months, however LM are still dismayed how the IAF managed to crash it's brand new C-130J in an inverted position.

Yaawwnn ..all that search just to post come back. Com on Windy. Please up your game. Boar incident is funny. And happening to PAK armed forces all the more. Anyways have you heard the incident where an F16 actually took out another F16 thinking it was an enemy plane ?

I dont have to clutch any straws. Our records are public unlike yours - are you still searching for Doosrabanda ? Gafoora must have injured himself while searching for it

We have brahmos data and statistics stolen from infia in 2017. Perhaps we can analyse its its fl pattern and guidance laws . We can disrupt its guidance like chinese have the capability .

Also the Chinese gave us those missile monitoring High speed lazers which they said we can even use to monitor settalites or crafts in outer space .

Those things need to he in a higher number in pakistan if we detect brahmos in time we can disrubt it or even shoot down the sukhoi which is about to launch them.

Also use the same protocols used by Nato to guard Nato awacs from russian strike fighters.

Also look at what pakistan did we changed Raad 1 and updated Raad 2 to be launched by smaller aircraft with a smaller war head.

I bet raad 2 can be modified the same way. But... I feel hypersonic missiles is the way to go. Those mach 7+ missiles can even take out brahmos in mid air. China has tons and mastered the art by now.

Edit: also pakistan Has PL-15B available right now with 450km+ range and its way more agile and light weight in comparison to new brahmos missile and is designed to take down American Awacs aircraft and refulers. I think that is what india is trying to counter... Desperately.
