What's new

India slips seven positions to 101 in Global Hunger Index 2021, lags behind Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal

Unless you plan to embrace communism, people will always be homeless and hungry in capitalistic societies. There are thousands of homeless and hungry people is developed countries like the US and EU too.

Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Chile, China, Croatia, Cuba, Estonia, Kuwait, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey, Uruguay. A total of 18 countries are hunger free, of which only China and Cuba are communist countries, and there are some countries are low-income countries.

Don't make excuses, it can't solve the problem.

People are hungry because they poor. It has nothing to do with lack of food or inefficiencies as India is still a food surplus country. Even if we become super efficient our food exports will grow and people will still be hungry. There are homeless and hungry people in the US and EU too. That's how capitalism works.

Indeed, that is how Capitalism works and its maintainers are not to be bothered about people dying of hunger or suffering so and having avoidable health complication deaths and sufferings. And other things ( like homelessness ).

Poverty is an artificial construct which shouldn't exist, especially in this modern age with ideas like 3D Printing, Vertical Farming and lab-grown meat.

The simple answer is Communism. I just now posted link to this thread of mine where I present a new socio-economic system which is Communist, derives from other Socialist socio-economic systems but also realizes the desire of Communism of abolishing economic classes ( rich, middle, poor ).

This is Sadhguru's level of mental gymnastics. Ask him why so many people are hungry in India, he'll ramble on about the very concept of hunger, and how Indian's aren't really hungry at all

That "Sadhguru" is an irritating charlatan and talks pseudo-intellectuality. Watch this short vid on how Javed Akhtar schooled him on a stage, although the uploader doesn't think so.

Bhai, Bangladesh doesn’t grow enough food. We dont have the landmass to grow enough food for 169 millions of Bangladeshis.

We do grow just enough rice, fish, poultry and vegetables. We are import dependent on other essentials like various type of cooking oils, spices, fruits etc.

Our farming techniques still are ancient. But our land is very fertile...
Thanks for educating me brother. Appreciate it.

All of those are former communist countries and still follow socialist policies. India follows free market economic policies like the US and has homeless & hungry people like the US.

If government gives everything for free, we would become a country of lazy people. India will go bankrupt in a matter of days. India is not oil rich gulf country.

Well, let's exclude the former communist countries. Then there are Brazil, Chile, Turkey and Uruguay.
Brazil's per capita GDP is only 6K US dollars and Turkey's per capita GDP is only 8K US dollars. They all belong to low&middle-income countries.
Yes, they are higher per capita than India, but this shows that capitalist countries can also eradicate hunger. Even if India cannot achieve their achievements, it should not be 100+ ranking.

@Foinikas @Apollon
Erdogan can eradicate hunger in Turkey, but Greece cannot. What do you think?

Not free for all things.

we would become a country of lazy people.

1. You are not the first one to use the "Lazy" argument. LOL. So you will instead prefer people to die of avoidable hunger and disease or commit suicide ? More than 350,000 Indian farmers committed suicide just between 1995 and 2015 because of socio-economic reasons. This tragedy could have been easily avoided. You would prefer tragedy over harmony ? Below are some of my threads :

2. Please read this post onwards.

India will go bankrupt in a matter of days. India is not oil rich gulf country.

1. What is bankruptcy within a country ?

2. To generate external-based income or to do exchange India has mined materials, agriculture products, finished goods, human services etc.

South American countries are influenced by Bolivar and communism.

Turkey is the odd one out there but it may be because they are close to eastern Europe and have same blood & thinking as their eastern Europeans cousins.
Not free for all things.

If government does not give the food for free how will a hungry person with no money fill up his or her stomach? It is all about money! . If someone has money there is no dearth of food in India.

You even used Bolivar as a shield. I think you can should be a spokesman for the Indian govt.
My mistake, I should not underestimate the sophistry of Indians.

Do you think these so-called Communist and socialist countries rely on free food to avoid hunger?

Are other nations not hit hard by COVID as well? How is COVID an excuse?

You should understand that the issue is not lack of food but lack on money with the people as there are no jobs in India. If US & EU move all their factories from China to India, India will resolve the issue of unemployment and the hunger index of India will fall from 100 to less than 10 in few months.

It's not about the money. It's not about the didi ding ding. :D

I will ask you to first respond to at least the OP of that socio-economic proposal of mine. Let's continue this discussion there.

Greece is just Afghanistan but in Europe with nice beaches and tourism. It would be another Syria if it weren't for Europe.

Turkey is not European in thinking. we just like to eat and not starve.

Even hungry people in India want to eat but they do not have money to buy food to eat. I am curious what happens in Turkey. Either all Turkish have money to buy food or someone/government is donating the food for free to such people.
