Talibans are not Pakistan's friend : Gen Tariq Khan

Unfortunately, this Afghanistan is a mercenary state full of mercenaries who for the right price will start trouble for us since1947. They left us no choice I am disappointed with some Taliban playing the nationalism card nowadays on us when they claim religion as the way lol

If they don't behave they are not an ally,

There has to be extradition agreement between the states but they have clearly stated they have zero interest in pakistan affairs or these ttp existence so you are shouting at the wrong tree. Try to first read there interviews instead of coming in here blabbering with little understanding of the current politics and ground realities.. Pakistan will never damage itself stragetically unnecessarily

Agar itna yakeen ha border seal krna impossible ha to kbhi India Pakistan border cross karo na

See this is what it is. Our entire FOCUS, entire military installations, MOST of the military is shifted at our eastern border... Can we really afford to move all that infrastructure to other side. How we can even VACATE any sector from our primary threat.

BTW! Even with world's perhaps most defended / guarded border still india keeps complaining of infiltration.

Hasn't Pakistan tried everything?

Kept millions of namak haram afghani refugees who cause nothing but fassad

Haven't we tried to make peace?

Given amnesties?

Released their members?

How do we fix the untrustworthy afghans?

Tell us what we can do?

What members? TTP are all Pakistanis and ull hardly find afghans in it. Who told u to talk n release TTP?
Its us who made their country a battleground and took part, interfered, mass recruited afghans in madrassahs like haqqania. And now u think they r untrustworthy? Lolz walk in their shoes and look at what we have done.
How to fix it? Its already in the process, relations take decades to develop and their r always spoilers. So keep with the effort and not jump like indians and use derogatory terms at every fake or twisted news or even a genuine accident or mishap.

LOL. Not at ALL! Sealing border is IMPOSSIBLE. We would have done so already and be over with this problem if it was that easy..
Brother, tell me WHY on earth even USA with Trillion dollar economy and cutting edge technology had to resort to Iron Wall worth billions of dollars in a desperate bid to stop infiltration.. 2700 Km is way too big.. there are 1000s of entry points.. When you hit the nest of bees, they will come in crashing and do suicide bombings..
Not an easy task..

Only solution is proper use of intelligence. Create chaos on other borders of Afghanistan to shift those MANIACS of IEA away from durand line. At the same time keep backing pro-pakistan elements. We cannot ALLOW all of them to unite against us. We have to be very smart to deal with this.

Brother, I enjoy your posts, but here you are making off a lot of excuses for a very simple job, its building a fence not building stairs to the moon, That is if someone actually wanted to do it. Build fences and mine the area they can commit suicide and cut fences to commit suicide it doesn't matter.

: ) Brother we can have difference of opinion.

IMHO, We would have sealed the border and be over with this problem if it was that easy. Please note, we lost 70000 lives in war on terror and the TTPs keep coming across throughout the war. It was necessary for us. We tried with fencing which can only stop them for brief amount of time until infiltrators make way.

This border is extremely long & difficult to guard. There is reason why even super powers struggle to completely guard / patrol border. Even india / pak border is massively guarded still there's sometimes infiltration from either side. On top, there is no possibility that we can allow that much resources at other side of border.

I am not finding any right example, how to put things in perspective. But let me try, If you go from Islamabad to Murree on foot / hike .. Its only 64 Kms.. Just imagine, how much resources you will need to properly mine only that small part. Still I'm sure the cunning infiltrators would be able to move even in the most guarded and smallest portion as small as 64 km..

So in my opinion sealing the afghan border is simply out of our limits. Its beyond our budget and available man-power to do so.. otherwise we would have done.

Anyways, we can have difference of opinion, lets agree to disagree

Actions speak louder, the IEA has to stop all militants that target their neighbours, including Iran, the Central Asian Republics, China and Russia. It has also has to allow women to go to school and work, it can apply rules and dress codes for that to happen.

Even though it may disagree with the border, it must respect its sanctity. If it can live up to these, it can have good relations with Pakistan and all its neighbours.

NO, absolutely not fencing Afghan border is not out of our limits, its kept that way for the benefit of the few.

Afghan border, all goods destined for Afghanistan are smuggled back into Pakistan with some help from Pakistan side via none fenced areas costing us manufacturing and lost custom duties worth billions, but we cannot fence the border because we don't have any money. As I said if there is a will there is a way fence and mine the border, but those benefiting from this will do their best not to make this happen..

Difference of opinion is very much appreciated, i like healthy conversations, so Thank you for that.

Gen Tariq should be appointed Governor of KPK. Afghan has nothing in their pocket but they want more.... they are not gharat mand ... they are greedy bastards ... Govt of Pak is helping them but what they giving us in return. ?????????? . They are sucking or wheat, livestock and other grain .... smuggling is killing our economy and causing price hick ...

Olive branch was extended when Pakistan took in Afghan refugees during the cold war.

What is their track record since then?

If Taliban cared so much about Pakistan, why did they help OBL sneak in? Why did their cousins TTP start a war against Pakistan?

Same Ideology, Same mentality , Same people who are part of TTP are also part of Afghan government, How exactly do you suppose they will tell themselves to change?

Interests! At the end of the day, they need money and recognition, the people will starve and how long will they be able to hold the country together, they want the UN seat and other perks of statehood, but they will not get it if they can't live up to their promises and obligations.

Most of the posters, on this thread, or on any other similar thread, are proposing that Pakistan shall base it's policy, towards Taliban-led Afghan government, on the basis of their liking/disliking for Talibans. That is not, how geopolitics, and international relations, work. It is far more complex, and complicated, than our imagination and perception. We have no option, but to trust those, in the helms of affairs, whether we like their decisions or not.
Trust someone blindly?
What is the difference then between blind following based upon tribalism, political mafia of nawaz, Bhutto, Zardari, and on the basis of religion?
We cant become "Shah doley kay chuhey ".
شاہ دولے کے چوہے ۔
No one should glamorized Army more than what they are. Much what we face today is the making of army , and intelligence agencies. Gen. tariq also confessed.

Taliban are not gonna do any of that! What Pakistan should do?
Taliban have a limited idea of islam, except them rest are lesser muslims.
Pakistan should keep its efforts for humanitarian assistance and recognition separate from TTP presence in afg. TTP should be targeted and eliminated in afg. This is what PA failed to do during US presence and now after when after taliban taking power.

Bhai our relations with Afghanistan have nothing todo with current situation, every afghani good taliban , bad talibans or events elected government of Afghanistan is against pakistan since pak brith , ab hutiaa he hoga jo pak to ghalat aor Afghanis ko sahi samjhy ga , we have two options, kill the snake or get ready to be killed by that snake
